Salmo, in my opinion the siren is all you need. Sounds like your place is in the sticks. Unless you can expect a five minute response by the Police, whats the point, the crooks are long gone. Also check out the false alarm fees where you are at. You will have false alarms no matter how careful you are. Keep in mind that the alarm company is going to call your house and try and get a response with the code before calling the police, yet further delaying the police response. Lastly, the Police respond to so many false alarms no one is in a hurry to get there anyway and lot of those alarms end up in the que. But, in the end you have to go with what makes you most comfortable.

I believe my house has been sold and I will be moving to a new one in Idaho. I plan on ditching the landline, no more alarm (as most of my stuff isn't worth worrying about and insurance replaces it anyway) and using the cell phone. Comrob raised my tv, internet, and phone rates by $50. I would can them now and be looking at the Dish or Direct If I wasn't anticipating moving so soon.

Comcast is not available in my area. I had Dish for about 12 years and when they would not negotiate I switched to Direct TV. It was and is cheaper and I like it better. Having a DVR has changed the way we watch TV. We are stuck with Qwest for a DSL line.
