Not only does he not know how to properly and safely hold a fish but I think his numbers are waaaaaaaaaaay off. Judging by his longarm photo I am gonna guess 10 pounds. Lame.-TBJ

If...he killed it, thank God it wasn't an actual 23#er!
Man it is just crazy to me to see all these threads about keeping nates. I think there is only one place left in Oregon that allows it, so I am just totally unaccustomed to seeing all these dead nate grip n grins.
Sad sad stuff...

10lb fish tops. Educate the guy and let him although it's legal it's still not ethical.

For what it's worth, I'm not sure that is a native. That dorsal looks like hatchery to me. Either way, I'm sure a kind word that doesn't completely destroy this guy's moment of glory may lead to a positive future in fish handling. Let's hope so.

Hey Cheryl - was that you we passed on the Bogi last Saturday? We exchanged "broken shoulder" stories as we passed.
Didn't realize it was you until we were past you.........

Two thoughts come to mind... Ethically immature and 9 or 10 lbs.
Hope you can cure him.

parker...that was me!!!....i go in for surgery on March 24th...i wondered the same thing, but i thought for sure your shoulder was much better than what you described...hope yours gets better...that was a fun drift....hope you did well...c
hoping it works...i find it hard to belive people who have fished for a while would do that...it was the Sol Duc...and yeah...no way its 23, plus he is a pretty big guy...the problem with the dorsal being clipped, even on accident, instead of the adipose, would be that you still usually dont have enough time to really look at the fish before you release it...i get to really look at my fish when i get home in the pics...thanks guys...c

I think the strange dorsal appearance is because it is relaxed, from being dead. That little bump on the tip, is the little spikey tip on a live fish with erect fins, and more so evident on bucks...
pryoprism must not affect dorsals...
Oh, and contrary to a post above, that would only be an Oregon 17#. Had it been a spawned out 34" hen, THEN it would have broke 20. (For those who haven't seen that thread on another board...it's worth the price of admission)

but i thought for sure your shoulder was much better than what you described Well, the surgery and rehab went well. Unfortunately, during the rehab, my shoulder got worse. Mobility went to crap, the pain increased, and I couldn't even sleep at night due to the pain. The PT people finally kicked me out as they had no idea what was going on. Went to my surgeon, wiggled the shoulder for him, and he quickly diagnosed me with: Frozen Should Syndrome (Adhesive Capsulitis). Look it up. Basically, my shoulder froze up (IE, vapor locked) and it's gonna be that way for about THE NEXT YEAR!!!!! Sucks, big time. Sucks WAY worse than the original injury, the surgery, or the rehab.

Parker, I had a friend with a frozen shoulder. They knocked her out and then manipulated the shoulder and arm like crazy. When she woke up it hurt like hell, but the shoulder was unlocked. Maybe not an option after a recent surgery. Hope it gets better in far less then a year.
