It's what I use.

I'm a relative newcomer to the cell phone thing having only bought my first one a couple years ago. After researching the best shock-proof/water resistant options, I came up with the GZ One.

It's never let me down. Don't we have the same phone? Seems to me we compared on a fishing trip and ours were identical except for color.

I think I'd get it again when the day comes to upgrade.....assuming it's still offered then.

Two + years now on this one. Its the only phone I've owned that has not failed from moisture. Salt spray, heavy rain, waterlogged coat pockets, floor of the driftboat, etc. Been dropped more than once. Highly recommended here.

This subject came up a bit back.

I'm a big fan of the my iphone with an Otter box on it. It's not waterproof, but it's very shock proof. A little zipping dry bag for the boat is all it takes to keep it going.

I believe its the first waterproof TUFF-phone with the full keyboard format.

Had my Gzone for two plus years. Battery is just starting to fail and i charge it about every 3-4 days. Texting it is a piece of poo but reception and beating it up it's great!

My wife and I both have GZone's and there are features we like about it and features we don't. First of all, the ruggedness and how water/shock resistant it is, is quite impressive. The paint on the orange one seems to chip off quite easy, but thats just cosmetic i suppose. The downfall to this phone is that they are having programming problems with it. When we got the first set, the phone would just shut off on you in the middle of a conversation, wouldn't tell ya who's calling, speakerphone would automatically come on when you flip the phone open and so on. Then one day the phone just started giving an off the hook/busy signal and wouldn't shut up. Tried turning the phone off, still got the busy signal and you could hear the SOB from across the room with the phone OFF!!! GRRR. So called verizon, they shipped us two new phones after trying to re-program them thru their system.

So, problem solved right? Not.... Damn things started doing the same [censored] a little while later. She called them up, they told us they are having programming problems with those and that she could either get another one or choose a different phone. She chose a different model and it hasn't happened since. Needless to say, I still have mine and it still automatically turns the speaker phone on when i flip it open, but other than that, i haven't had anymore problems. I WILL NOT get this phone again when my new every two is up. Shouldn't even have these problems out on the market. A customer should not have to spend the doe and take time outta his day to fix that [censored] once let alone twice. Good luck Doc.

I've got the phone. The day I got it I ended up putting it in a .... pitcher of beer. Rinsed it off afterwards and it worked fine. I've taken underwater pictures and videos with it. Its been thrown into walls, dropped in the river, thrown in the river, left out in the sun all day, covered in egg goo, borax and herring brine. I literally was trying to break it for about a week. Well....... i didn't end up breaking it the way i thought but the little plug where you charge it bent and it wouldn't charge.

So they set me a refurb phone..... this is where it went bad. The first day part of the front peeled off. The phone would randomly shut off and sometimes wouldn't dial. I talked with verizon but they said there was nothing they were willing to do. Phone still works, but doesn't seem quite as durable as the original. I'd get another one in a heartbeat.

+1

Been punishing mine for about 3 years. The speakerphone never was loud enough, along with the regular speaker.

Other than that, damn thing is purdy f'n tough. Slag, and sparks have pocked the exterior, she has been ran through the worshin machine twice, dropped from ten feet more times than I can count, and I tried that "throwit against the wall game" a few times too.

The best phone I have ran since the old Motorolla Startac (got reception EVERYWHERE, and still has no peer).

OK my "new every two" upgrade just kicked in and I pulled the trigger on this phone online tonight.

Will give y'all the full fNp review after I've had a chance to play with it a while.

You lost a phone over board attached to float. You didn't realize it until you put the boat on the trailer. You then ran back towards the bay and spotted the float, retrieved the phone and used it for over a year afterwords and your replacing it before it's dead.
Careful Doc old phone gots good JuJu

Hope it's a good one. My 3rd gen GZone is on its last leg. Just lost its ability to remember a phone #. burned my upgrade on Drakes Droid so I have to wait until mid June.
Don't toss your old one...

Is this just a VeriZon phone or AT&T?
I bought the Verizon Boulder for fishing, but the coverage was less than my phone I drowned.

Doc...total POS
The sound quality is horrible...add a little wind and almost intolerable/unintelligble.

I wont own another one. The theory is good but it doesnt stand up over time and straight out the box I thought that just the voice and audio quality alone was sorely lacking.

Eye--if you find the same, you should have at least a 30 day window to return/replace. Talljeep may have had a lemon.

you just need a weatherproof bluetooth for in the boat.
