Anyone have any suggestions?

I thrashed my spotless driving record with a speeding ticket and then got nailed with an at-fault accident w/ another ticket in a two month period. Just got the insurance renewal in the mail yesterday and they increased my premium almost a $1000 for the year. frown

Any input would be appreciated. I don't really have the time to get a quote from every random company out there and would love to know if there are any to avoid.

Thanks in advance!

USAA or Prudential are good if you can get them.

Vern Fonk. Can't vouch for what happens if you actually have to make a claim, but can vouch for the fact that they were cheap as shitt.

Sorry about the misfortune.

The bad news is that, no matter who you go through, you will be looking at higher premiums with two infractions on your records within a three year period. In fact, you may find as you shop around that some companies won't offer you a policy until your record is clear again.

The good news is that your existing insurance company has offered to keep you on, which is better than being dropped. Furthermore, while I can certainly appreciate that $1,000 is a lot of money, it's not really that much in terms of auto insurance hikes.

Good luck.

I've been with Pemco forever, and rates and service were excellent. Until I got 3 tickets in one 3-year period. Wow! Got stuck with about a $1,000 increase for the first year, 6 or 700 the second, less the third, and finally back to normal low rates. I thought briefly of changing, but what company would take on a new policy with someone with tickets on their record without applying the same $$ penalty?

I guess the idea is to make speeding hurt, first with the cost of the ticket, then with the increased cost of insurance. I just try to be more mindful of speed limits.

Otherwise Pemco has been fine. I had 2 claims a year apart, one on homeowners and one on auto - breakins of a storage shed and then the smash and grab on my car last winter. They paid both claims in a few days.

My parents have had Pemco since the 60's. They didn't have to pay much...Then my mom had a seizure at the wheel and wrapped her car around a telephone pole.

After 40 years of near-perfect driving records, Pemco tripled their rates and fought all the related medical claims such as MRI's, etc.

Progressive is so-so priced, but we've never had any problem with claims. They've always taken care of everything with a single phone call.

Another agency to look into is Country Financial. They've offered me lower rates and I'm considering switching.

I've had State Farm since I was 16 years old and I'll probably have them when I'm 86.

I've had a couple of accidents over the years, a few tickets, made a couple of Comprehensive claims and had a burglary where insured jewelry was stolen and they never raised my rates once.

My agent, who I've had for 20 years now still knows my name and recognizes me when I come in to the office.

I'm happy where I'm at.

I'd have to agree. All three cars were totaled and I had a very reasonable check within 48hrs of determining fault. (Lesson learned: Try to talk to WSP first and make sure any witnesses give a statement before they leave or it will be you vs. them and the car with passengers who gave their statement first will always prevail...)

M of E was great to work with and paid all the medical without question as well.

Geico, State Farm and Progressive all came out higher so it's looking like I'm staying put for now

Here's my wrecked car for your viewing pleasure. The front and drivers side look about the same as the rear.
