Best wishes for getting your rod and reel back. Have had it happen to me under different circumstances, but it is not uncommon to get it back.

A rod and reel combo like that have a lot of great memories to go with them. The memories are worth a lot more than the replacement cost by a large margin.

BTW - did anyone ever find a net left outside the bathroom at Elliott Bay a couple of summers ago :-)

It was gone by the time I had realized i left it there, but gee was I stupid or really tired at 4AM in the morning to leave it there in the first place!!!

Nice recovery of the rod and permit.

Kind of reminds me of my chasing a 5lb bonefish and my fly line across a flat after my backing knot failed....

My permit rod and reel are cheap enough to try that trick. And my bonefish rod, and my tarpon rod.
