Okay, my old school, (liquid) white gas lantern was used to light the porch for halloween. Some trick-or-treater might have taken off with it?

I'm going coastal for the clam dig tonight and tomorrow. Might be able to dig my limit today, not sure about Saturday night.

What is better? LED or propane for clamming?
Your thoughts are much appreciated.

LED is going to light up brighter but it won't be natural light color and might be more "assaulting" to the eyes.

I lost some of my color vision back in a mishap at an airfield in the Eighties.

Blues and greens I see, just looking for a bright source to see razor clam signs.

If you need power and easy, the Coleman North Star is the bomb.
I use electrics now, but when my fishin' buddy cranks up his North Star, it's like our campsite is a Broadway stage.
I have the old two-mantle white gas numbers and this North Star propane is the next level.

There is also a dual-fuel version if you're into liquid fuels.

The 12.97 Walmart LED headlight is what we have used for years for "task lighting"....3AAA batteries last a looong time in these....a red LED also for sneaking around and very light in weight.
Do not get the 19.97 Walmart headlight....problem switch.

Well, ended up buying the propane lantern.

The hour long delay in traffic had me miss the last of tide today. Talking on the phone sounded like eazy limits out on the beach.

Well that sucks. Traffic is always a factor I forget about cause I'm used to leaving at 0 dark 30.

I switched to the propane lanterns a number of years ago, they work good at first, but salt intrusion will kill them fairly fast.
The worst aspect is they will blow over in the wind.
I'm back to the double mantel Coleman white gas lantern, works good, lasts a long time.

Clamming Saturday was tough with the weather. Taking what I could find was the method of the day with the given conditions. I was done digging before the end of daylight.

Not the larger clams some claimed via cellular phone.
I had my newer Ravine but had trouble with people hearing me over the wind. I'm currently looking looking for a better phone for these conditions. Perhaps a lower microphone will be the needed improvement.

I start texting in windy conditions. It seems all the newer phones really dislike wind.

Texting on the beach was not an option for me. Especially for a new generation phone

There was coverage. I'm more willing to speak to my friends and family.

IMHO the Casio Ravine would be better phone if the microphone were protected from off angle winds.
