The Kitsap County Board of Commissioners meeting is 7:00 PM, Monday, 13 December (tomorrow night). I believe the meeting will be at the Kitsap County Building in Port Orchard . Call 360.337.4667 to confirm this with the county.

On the agenda is a motion about the boat launch - to eliminate the concrete ramp. They negotiated this with WDFW!!!! MAYBE WE LOSE AGAIN. Many of us thought this was a done deal, we need to be at this commission meeting and speak up. Bring as many friends as you can..........thanks

Let me guess....the new plan is to axe the boat launch and make it into a bird watching area with hours of access 9-5, provided, of course, that you have your window decal visible. As far as I am concerned, if they dont put in a boat ramp the WDFW might as well sell to the highest bidder. How many years has this debacle gone on?? It seems like it has been around a decade since I last launched at Vic's. What a shame, WDFW should be embarassed that they have denied this access for as long as they have and not gotten it done-

Its my understanding that the Point No Point launch was a go, passed all hurdles and was funded.......It is my understanding that Kitsap County wants to make Point No Point a cartopper launch.........We lost a new launch at Seabeck also after WDFG spent lots of money on design etc........We don't need our County Govt shooting us in the foot.......Approx 3 weeks ago, Kitsap County Commissioner Josh Brown was the guest speaker at the Kitsap Poggie Club meeting.......he did not say a word about all this........

Reading the documents seems to indicate an agreement to have the State (WDFW?) transfer ownership to Kitsap County after creating a car-topper launch which, for practical purposes, is a kayak launch and beach walker park. Not exactly what WDFW funds (presumably) were spent to acquire.

Not advocating WDFW giving up on the original plan but if WDFW is not going to use the property as a general boat launch then they should sell it to the highest bidder to generate monies to better maintain existing launches.

Wonder if this has seen the light of day in front of the WDFW Commission?

If memory serves me correctly this property was sold to the state at a greatly reduced acquisition fee with the stipulation that a public launch for motorized boats be constructed and maintained. Unfortunately I can't seem to find the original documentation on the land transfer sale agreement but I guess if you drag your feet long enough that stuff just sort of goes away. I'm wondering how much money has been spent on this project since its inception in 1996. 14 years and you haven't moved a shovel full of dirt, pathetic.

Notice how the county held them over an expensive barrel by appealing it's environmental review until they caved and agreed to build an RV park and kayak launch before giving them control. BS

This matter has been set aside until next meeting, 10 Jan 2011 after some folks that have been involved from day one had a chance to speak. Also I understand the state was not quite ready to roll.
