I want to catch them but have never foud more than 5-6 of them in any given area that had any size to them at all. I don't have a boat so bank fishng is my only option. The largest I have gotten was about 12 inches across but 6 inches or smaller is more the norm. Is there anywhere that they can be found in large numbers of descent size in Grays Harbor or am I just going to have to do without? I know they can be caught in the sound but I just don't have the opportunity to go there and have no boat.
Also, is there anywhere to catch shrimp and/or prawns in Grays Harbor?
And before anyone says it, I have called every agency, merchant and fisherman I can find to try and find places to catch them localy with no luck.

Prawns.........I catch them when they are on sale...Safeway or Swansons..... $2.99 a pound. Normally they are in 2 pound packages, 51- 60 size...work good.....can be used for bait or eating.
Can't drive to the coast and back for that kind of money. Just got to "get it done when the sale is on"....

Not sure about Grays but the Sealions pretty much wiped out the Starry Flounders in the bays on the Oregon Coast and Lower Columbia, working on the Sturgeon now .

Wonder if fp ever tried dropping his shrimp pots out there? Never have . There are Shrimp way out in the ocean but I try not to go there as I puke my guts out and my boat is not the right kind to venture in the big blue. I'll stay on the Hood for Shrimp and I have caught several Flounders trolling for Salmon on the Columbia but never in the bays around here. fp

Oh well, I figured as much but had to ask anyway. The idea was to give the kids something to do catching shrimp maybe while we were crabbing or catch some flounder when they are tired or trying to bury themselves in the sand dunes.
Guess crab and perch will have to do.
On a related note, does anyone have any resources for getting raw 100-150 count or popcorn shrimp in the shell?

Not this time of year, commercial pink shrimp season starts some time in April I believe.

Van winkle has a few crawdads but not enough to make a decent meal. Bullhead sculpin taste like rotten cod smells. They can catch crawdads in the local drainage system right by my house, probably catch sculpin too, I know there are tiny minnow in there.
How about locations to get mud shrimp? The only place I know of is in the marina in Ocean shores. Is there anywhere else to get them? They seem to work really well for sturgeon and might be a sturdier, better shrimp to cure for steelhead.
