$84 is a pretty damn good value IMHO if a guy can actually get off the couch and out in the field.

I had to spend more than that just taking the future Mrs. out to a nice dinner...

For what you get, a fishing/hunting license/tags are a bargain. What was market price for salmon and halibut last year? I'd have to sell my truck to pay for what's in my freezer... Hell, I'm 5 days into the new year, and already on my second hatchery tag thumbs

Crap what about ammo? I duck hunted a couple of times this winter and hadn't been out in many many years. The prices for steel shot were alarming!
I suppose it might cut down on the sky busting though!
I was impressed with the Black Cloud though. Good stuff.

License cost seems very small compared to rods, reels, misc. gear, motels, gas, food, etc. $230 for waders that leaked on the 5th use, now that about near caused me a &%$@*!# heart attack!

I see your point. it is just frustrating though. I am lucky to get out every 2 weeks or so these days. still have to buy my shellfish license, deer tag, elk tag, and upland tag.......

starting to think golfing might be cheaper......sorry guys, that was a gay comment.

damn! must be nice living close to a great river!

Regarding license fees, it's a small price to pay for what you get.

It's a bargain at twice the price. One tank of gas, 12 dozen herring, 1/4 of a good rod, a cheap reel, etc.

+1, gas for the boat and the kicker, gas for the truck to get there, bait, gear..... Not cheap at all and these fees just keep going up and up and WDFW enforcement and management just keeps getting cut and slashed. Where is out money going?

I have posted links to the WDFD budget and financial statements several times. If your question is a serious one you can look it up online. Perhaps it was a rhetorical question?

The bottom line is everything is more expensive these days. The expensive gas you are complaining about is also expensive for WDFW to buy.

License fees do NOT cover all WDFW expenditures. Repeat WDFW spends considerably more money than they take in from license fees.

I for one would support a significant license increases IF the money were to go for more enforcement.

If you think the licenses are high now wait till this current budget mess shakes out. I believe the legislature will lean heavily toward user fees. Those who use it pay for it. (That would be a real shock for those who catch the $700 blackmouth.)If that happens license fees will go up significantly.

My license cost less than one day of fishing. My little regret is that I bought an OR license and didn't make it down there to fish, other than one short chug up the Multnomah Channel.
