It's no secret that both the Quinault and the Queets are heavily netted. I think the tone of the remarks is that the Queets wild run has sustained somewhat better than the Quinault. Whatever the reason why, the Queets meets its escapement goal much more often than does the Quinault. And the fishing usually reflects it.

I think part of it is that a lot of the quinault fish will spawn below the lake plus the quin fish are netted just like the queets but they are also hammered by the tribal guides sportfishing. Yes hyrbrid the quin is no secret and nobody is trying to lure folks away from it, it honestly is a tough place to catch fish these days.

It's too bad the Queets doesn't clear up anymore during steelhead season and access to the upper Rvr is all screwed up from all the blown downs from the last few years,it use to b beautiful up there now it looks like crap. When's the last time any1 seen it flow turquise blue? It's been at least 5 years for me. We use to fish the Queets and hook a few fish every time, the last 2 or 3 times nothing!!! Rip Queets! Realtalk.

Yeah, the Queets sure has an issue with an over-abundance of blue clay. Good for net fishing; bad for sportfishing. Makes the Hoh at 18" visibility look gin clear. Blowdowns have always been a Queets trademark. The road washout has complicated access.

MPW,

Your practical options are fish the upper river (park) with a map or fish the middle/lower river with a guide.

You will catch fish with a guide, and will probably not catch fish without, but will have a good day either way.

The OP is beautiful!! The smells, trees, eagles, water ,all are distractingly beautiful especially if if you are from the city.
One thing I really like about the OP,is that (almost) no body who lives there takes it for granted.

PS.
Probably no such thing as a resident trout in the OP rivers. The genetic pressure favors anadromous fish. But a complicated issue.

Go check it out. If theres fish in there, you'll probably be one of few, if any, who know about it. The best fishing spots are the ones that no one knows about. Make your own secrets wink. A good fishing secret is well worth the effort. My fav fishing holes are ones I discovered myself.

JGrizzle,

I agree with everything you just said. But I think discouraging people from answering legitimate questions is not necessary or helpful (in fact, it's the opposite of helpful).

If you don't want it known to the entire Internet-reading world, that's what PMs are for.

MPM,

nothing agianst helping a fellow fisherman out.... and your right PMs are great for this instead of airing it out online esspecially on rivers that don't get brought up all the time. I dont fish the quin. never have and prolly never will and I have my own issues with the Queets and havn't fished it in 4 years.

have fun on your trip
