Dave will tell you that they are catching trout and koke's off the island or over by the vet hospital. these are the normal places to fish at american. i spent many a weekend ther since i was an early teen, and that's been a long time ago. i fished there when Mary owned the boat house, and it was a boat house, not just a float dock. weather makes a big difference at American, now with low pressure coming in the fish will be lower in the water column. i would recommend to go west towards F/L officiers club and try the cove, still fishing or trolling, both work. can be tough to get baCK TO THE BOAT HOUSE with the wind blowing out of the south, i use to row in the rental boat's, i was strong back then, now i could not row across the launch area to open water.

i have not been out for sometime, it depends on baro pressures, high pressures and kokes will stay nearer the top as long as water temp is cool. low pressure and they can drop to the bottom layer of the water column, i have caught kokes from 1 foot to 60 foot down with 4 onunce lead banana weight, big bell flasher and a red hook with maggets, really throbs at low speeds. but like i said i have not been out, can not row my arse around like i use to do, too old and fat now. don't have a motor or an electric anymore, spend most of fishing on the rivers, but with the things coming down, American may turn up more so than has been. i have fished here and Spanaway since i was a kid, bike ride to Spanaway and got rides to American since lived in Parkland back then, 50 years ago. good luck with c&r on the o/p.
