Some of you may have heard us chatting on the show about the old-school Okie drifter setup that Herzog has been fishing this winter: No. 3 sunrise Okie (customized with cheap pink nail polish), 1/0 Eagle Claw, 4-6 mm orange/red bead, two-foot leader (18 1/2-pound Seaguar Grand Max fluro, not old-school), bottom-walker style 1/8 hollow-core lead on spinner shaft , No. 7 Vision snap swivel. Upper, upper, upper, upper river(s). Here are some shots from the past couple of trips. Red-cheeked buck, 40-year-old Okie Thick-bodied hen, 40-year-old Okie Quality time with Mr. Spruce Happy happy More happy happy Okay, one more ... Corey gets his Peekaboo Money Somebody is watching ... Sunset on the way home Oooops, forgot the Perpetrator JS/NWWC

Nice shots! Mr. Spuce reminds me of Mr. Sequoia in my front yard (for scale, thats a short tined rake and a shovel on the left side, leaning against the trunk)

Nice pix. Bill loves those old Okies, but I think there's a lot more to whos fishing them than what they are fishing. But I have to admit the two biggest he and I got in the Situk were back to back casts with the old nail polish pink Okie.

bottom-walker style 1/8 hollow-core lead on spinner shaft , No. 7 Vision snap swivel. Like to see a image of that, can't picture the design... c/22

It's because of Zog I have about 150 of the original sunrise Okies.

Could be because you were using an old nail polish pink Okie. I catch most of my fish on whatever I'm using as well. By Jove I think you are onto something. I had a banner day last year with Addicted . I was tossing an orange jig. He's been a big fan of orange ever since. Now when he uses orange jigs he gets all his fish on orange jigs.

I have about 150 of the original sunrise Okies. Me too! Bought a few bags of 100's years ago and used some of them but got the rest hangin' on the shop wall. fp

You guys would crack up at the assortment of garish colors in my collection of Okies.
Most of mine are the HUGE Gob-Stopper size.
Can't remember the last time I threw one in the river.
Gonna have to fix that this summer.

Hmmmmm. That gets me thinking. Is the the okie shape, or the size+color?
But I thought the three most important things were 1) presentation, 2) how you present your offering 3) and of course how your offering is presented?
Killer photos by the way. That sunset and "peakaboo" shots were my favorites, but all were in the range of stellar!

water.........Caught a majorityof my steelhead as a youngster on the Snoq, Sky, tolt, Skag, Ducka, Dosey on a very similair rig with a Fenwick fs 79 and a mitchell 300, Apperantly my old man says he still has my old rods hanging in the garage......................pretty cool
Anyways when me and Zog worked together a few years back I gave him a giat jar of oakies, he about creamed his jeans. Its funny how some of the old dinosaurs still produce with that good old gear that has tested the stands of time and modern day materials !!!
I am sure I will get a call for those laqst two lines.

For most anglers I would guess that the Okie vs. Corkie argument wouldn't matter much...getting it in front of a fish is a lot more important...for those who are able to get them in front of fish a lot, the extra wobble might do you some good...I fish 'em because they work, but also for the nostalgia of it...it's cool to catch fish on lures that are as old or older than me.
  Fish on...

I've got 100's of Okie's that I've collected over the years, spent as much as .50 a piece for them... Figured one day I might make a penny or two on them... Keith
