Gotta say its not a bad looking bait hook @ all, nice big gap on it.

VMC # 7356

I haven't fished VMC hooks in along time & then it was in the salt.

Thankfully I still have a pretty good stockpile of the older sickles from Joe, from size 2-2/0.

Gamakatsu, VMC, Mustad, Hayabusa, Team Cat, along with many other companies in Asia that currently produce hooks...check out Euro and Asian retail sites, you'll be surprised what you see availible for purchase.

(Anybody got any good 2/0 Sickles laying around they want to get rid of?)

Do you know if CH has 2/0 octo's with the original good bend? I could use a couple 1000 ct. boxes if so.

It's easy to tell what's what if they ship them to you in unopened bulk boxes. Manufacturer origin labels reading; made in Korea=good, made in China=garbage.

Interesting. I talked to Jerry at Matzuo and he told me all the manufacturing is still taking place in Korea and that only packaging is being done in China.

According to import genius at least some of them are made in China.

Is simple, someone have a box of them that says made in China? A picture will end that part of the debate. Maybe Captain hooks will send me one.

Yea, I do have a box of jig hooks from China. That's what prompted me to call Matzuo America directly. The hooks look identical and I couldn't tell them apart.

Depends on the hook, depends on the size...you can tell the second you open them, though, regardless of what it says on the box...I've got boxes that say "Made in Korea" on them, with "Made in China" stickers underneath...

Fish on...

Did Jerry say why some of the hooks are so bad? If I didn't have to send them back I would send you a couple of the bad ones to show you.

Mark,

The Sickle jighook you offer has never been problematic. Which coincidentally, would never have been afforded to anyone if it were not for my initiation and funding towards mass quantities of that particular model.

You can talk about origin of manufacture to whomever you like from either organization, there's still only one truth...a once great product with loads of promise is headed the same track as native summer steelhead...almost history.

(Maybe the new Sickles could be labeled "Hatchery Specific"?)

Good luck.
