Buddies and I call that 'stupid hole'. Some years they love it and some years they just don't want to live there. I know this is old , but this past season they LIVED THERE. Nice fish. I thought it would have hung over 50 as well.

Nice fish and good story! Seem to get some big ones in NorCal and Southern Oregon. Some dude on the river told me the story of his brother's world record 71.5 lb Chinook on a fly from the Rogue. Thought he was full of it until I Googled it. An old timer from my home town here caught a 70.5 lb Chinook up here in the Straits which is a Washington salt water record.
I met KK once before - big guy. I would pay money to see KK and Hank in a mud wrestling match.
