Had eagle run a talon through my hand once while trying to free one from a leg hold fox trap, it's so sharp I felt almost no pain. I tossed a dead rockfish to an eagle once, in an attempt to get a photo of the pickup. He/she swooped down hit it but didn't pick it up. I tried again. The eagle tried again, same result. I went and picked up the rockfish and found it had several slashes through the flesh that looked like a scalpel had made them. Pretty dang impressive.

I've seen one pick apart a dead seal like it was scooping up jello. It was a huge one too (the eagle). Like half my height.

Looks like Mamma is sleeping...where's Dad? I take it they don't roost together. Hope he's not at the Misstresses.

This is a very cool link...
One of the parents just delivered a gopher and tore it apart. The half eaten carcass is still in the frame.
Gruesome looking lunch unless you are an eagle I suppose.

The third egg has not hatched- the adult stood up when the other delivered the gopher.

There is another victim at the bottom of the page but I can't tell if it is feathers or fur.
Maybe keeping the carcass around is like a trophy celebrating success or maybe long term food storage for rainy days?
I would have thought they would have been better housekeepers though.

Chuck, almost ran over six Goldens in NE Nevada. Came flying over a crest of a hill on a remote hwy, they were feeding on some road kill. The size of those things are enormous, I believe they're larger than the Bald's.

Picked up an injured Golden (broken wing) one day in E. Colorado. Didn't close the transport box tightly enough. It got out of my car. They can move pretty fast on two legs. Ended up tossing my coat over the bird so I could grab the legs. You don't want to grab just one leg or have the bill in the vicinity of your hand/arm.

You don't want to grab just one leg or have the bill in the vicinity of your hand/arm. Hell no. I saw a guy get himself ripped the f*ckl open up in BC by a little Seagull that ate his spoon. His hand was gushing blood so fast it was astounding and he and his buddy b-lined for the hospital immediately. After what I saw from a little gull, I wouldn't be surprised if a bird of prey could take your arm off.
