Anybody own, cast, handled or seen these up close? Looking at building a 6 weight switch for summer fishing but am having a hard time justifying outlaying time, $ and effort to craft if I could get the length, action, weight and basic ammenities I'm after, especially in inexpensive finished form. Haven't purchased a factory rod in a long while so a little skeptical about jumping back on the mass produced bandwagon...Any input would be much appreciated.
(#1136-4 is model in question.)

Hum... interesting...
They don't look bad, or sound too bad from the description. Did you notice the 'Try for 60 days, and you can return it for a full refund" part?
Also noticed, they have TFO Lefty Kreh Pro Series 12'6" 6wt switch on sale for $149. Lifetime warranty.

Potential shame can usually be avoided with a broad head black Sharpie, electrical tape or a rainbow sticker...equally as helpful is an awareness to handling the rod in such a manner that the Hardy is always visible.
I have no idea what the newer Cabela's rod's performance levels or asthetic qualities are, but the price point is definitely appealing. Guess I'll make a call to Lacey and see if they have them in stock.
Thanks.

I use a Plueger medalist on my 5-wight switch. That thing has taken a pounding and is still in decent condition. I bet that I will be using for years to come. Any subtle thoughts regarding the opinions of others in regards to my cheap $30.00 reel went out the window when I saw pictures of some of the old timers (Ralph Wahl, etc.) using them.

Apparently I should have placed a t.i.c. note alongside my "potential shame" comment. I use the gear that I want and am not much influenced by what others think in that regard. I have contemporary fishing rods that range in price from $30 (Diawa spinning) to $1200 (McVey bamboo) with most rods costing less than $100 except graphite Spey rods.
The CND Spey Tracker is a really nice rod, but even as a blank (if available) probably costs 2 or 3X the Cabela's rod. KK, when we got our Spey Trackers, the influx of well made, good performing, cheap imports hadn't yet occurred. The quality of low priced rods just keeps getting better, but one must shop carefully, cuz the majority of the dogs are always among the lower price point rods and everything else.
Twitch, yeah, the $60 Cabela's Three Forks rods floor me with how good they are. Bothers me that I bought a Fly Shop house brand 8 wt 2 years ago for $125, cuz I like the action of the Three Forks (med-fast) much better.
Joe, I have to run some errands today; maybe I can drop in to Cabela's and look around. Oh, BTW, which Hardy? Be a name dropper.
Pflueger Medalist reels continue to be among the best values in fly reels. I have three of them altho I no longer use them. They are and always have been clunky, and they're a tad heavy on lighter weight graphite rods.

Sg True enough. Your comment about these reels being "a tad heavy" is probably the only issue that I have ever had with them.
