I've beeb hearing alot about Ethanol doing severe damge to an out board. I do not winterize my boat being that I use it year round.
My question is, have I screwed up not using any fuel stabilizer in my tank? The boat is stored inside, but not in a heat controled inviroment. I've never worried about this being I would always be putting fresh fuel in the boat for I only had a 20 gal tank. My new baot has a 32 and I'm not fueling up every trip.

If you have fuel with ethanol use stabilizer and do the mix to storage levels all the time. If you have a non ethanol station near by use it but be aware their is only one refinery doing non mix in in the state, the retailer can / do mix them up. The stickers or lack of are not that great a guarantee.

AuntyM has a point there Charr, guess theres a line up of boats at Auburn Marine with water in the fuel problems, brought on by the new improved 15% ethanol. Guess it attracts water like a sponge. A buddy of mine heard from a tanker driver delivering to a marina that you do not want to mix gas from stations for cars and marinas. Marinas get the non-ethanol and he said (driver) you could get an algae bloom in your tank. Dont know if that is just BS or true. Use stabil or something like it year round. Dont trust your oil company. Just saying.

Not just Sta-bil. Use the Marine formula Sta-bil. It has extra additives just for ethanol. I will use E-0 when I can get it but will still add the Marine formula Sta-bil for added protection. I have not had any water problems since using the additive even with 10% ethanol but I did go through a couple of thousand in repairs a few years ago the biggie being my main motor yamaha F115. Water in the fuel destroyed my high pressure pump and regulator on the fuel injector unit. OUCH!!

Marinas should be pumping E0 fuel but they're often more expensive.
Here's a list but it is not gospel, you will still want to call around and verify the best you can :

Use a high quality water separating fuel filter.

Probably been asked before, and if so, I apologize... anyone know where are the non-ethanol gas stations around Olympia/Lacey/Tumwater?

Thanks!

star-tron is a good stabilizer.

the best thing you can do for your equipment if you have ethanol in your fuel is run it all the time! that's why you see such problems with small 2 stroke engines, guys put them in the garage in the fall and when they take them out in the springtime, the diaphragms in the carburetors are hard, and the fuel lines are swollen or split. most of the landscapers and other professional users don't have as many ethanol problems because they burn through fuel on a regular basis. when the units sit with E10 fuel, it breaks down and attacks rubber parts, and corrodes aluminum.

the other part of it(which i think is more serious for outboard owners) is that it burns leaner than straight gas, which can cause detonation in higher compression engines. i'd recommend using mid-grade or premium if you're having this problem. boat motors tend to have float carbs in them which are a lot less susceptible to ethanol than the diaphragm style, but they can still be corroded if they're aluminum. best thing to do besides using a stabilizer is to drain them out before letting them sit, if you have a drain screw on the bowl.

(Something i found,) Meanwhile,BoatU.S. advises that owners of trailerable boats who fill up in gas stations should avoid E15 fuel when it becomes available.EPA also proposes a pump-labeling requirement advising consumers that E15 is illegal for use in vehicles older than 2007 or anyother engine. (Presumably the labeling could change once EPA reaches a decisionon 2001-2006 vehicles.) McCarthy promised that the agency would “work with the industry” to educate consumers.

Time Oil in Tacoma does the non ethanol premix gas and sells mainly to unbranded stations. The major brands don't do the non ethanol product anymore but it shows up here and there on occasion, just depends on who the middle man is.

Two E-0 stations I use are at the north end of Adams in down town Olympia (near the old Hardel lumber) it is called Fast Fuel and the Cenex station in Chehalis. Take the Pe Ell-Raymond exit, go into town, just before the second set of tracks take a left on N.W. State st. It's about 300 feet on left. The one in Oly is mid-grade and the one in Chehalis is 87 octane.

If you Google "Ethanol free gas in the U.S. and Canada" it will give the locations of all E-0 stations in every state. If I knew how, I would put the site on here. Someone else can I'm sure.

1. Do any of the stations "that are 100 % gas".....have the price on the pumps??????

2. Can you buy with just a credit card?

3. Do they have people on duty to take cash?????

DW, I would just copy and paste the name of the station that you're interested in and let Google spit out a phone number so you can give them call.
