I decided to take a break from lake fishing and hit a small creek yesterday.
Fishing was pretty good. The native coastal cutts aren't large but are great looking fish and like to eat dry flies. They put a nice bend in a 3 wt as well.
The stream I fished was full of life. Snail, crawdads, stoneflies, multiple types of mayflies, caddis and craneflies.
It was a nice day of hiking small water, easy to wade water. The best part was seeing only one other angler all day.
A few pics from yesterday.

Beautiful fish.
Sounds like a healthy stream.
Looks like a great, relaxing day.

In Oregon that would be a river smile

Thanks for a neat report and photos.

When I saw the thread title, I expected to see a much smaller body of water.

That is probably because I grew up in Oregon's high desert county and the Creeks
we fished were ones we could jump from one bank to the other.

We referred to creeks as cricks.

Thanks again.

Sebastes,
Normally it would be much smaller. This year there is just a whole bunch of water everywhere.

Exactly why I have been spending more time on creeks this year than in years past. I've found a few great fish and had a lot of fun going to places where humans rarely tread. Cool stuff. And oh, yeah - another great post, stonefish.

My favorite trout fishing memories all revolve around small streams. Really want to find some nice places to chase trout with a tiny flyrod.

Any of ya'll want some fun small stream stuff; dries/coastal cutties, and you're ever down here in Oregomer land, shoot me a PM.

There's only one neighbor between me and the headwaters of the N.F Alsea (13 mi.) thumbs

Heading to Montana this afternoon. Rivers are still quite high. I booked a float on the Big Hole next Thursday, but it's still at flood stage, over twice the normal flow for this time of year. So it looks like I'm going to be doing more creek fishing than river fishing this trip. Maybe I'll have something to add to this thread when I get back.
