One Jack and zip tied myself to a tree to hide from the wind. NOAA weather says 1 1/2 rain tomorrow plus the tides go to the high cycle with a 9.9 ( Dot's ) and a mix of 9+. Things should move but with the weather ( take a look at the link ) forecast something should pop.

http://www.nwrfc.noaa.gov/weather/plots/QPF_24_DAY2_20110927_12_201109251527.jpg

After this storm a week of good weather then another one coming from the South but Southern Oregon gets most of it.

Just my luck. I am on holiday this week.

Casting spinners and plugs from the bank will be my "go to" tomorrow.

I fished for a while yesterday morning. The cohos had some serious lockjaw where I was. I should have quit after a half an hour (and I knew it). The first half-hour was pretty exciting I hooked a fish and lost it in the first few casts, and then I saw a medium sized bear swim across the river.

I was able to catch up to him before he got out of the water, and then when he got out of the water, he stood on his hind feet and looked at me. He had a small white patch right in the middle of his chest. Regret not bringing my camera.

Very cool RR (the bear part). It would have been cooler if Dogfish and I saw it on Saturday. We were probably upstream from you doing the youth duck hunt out of our driftboats and Andy had a pocketful of tags...including bear.
The two boats had a small armory combined and there was only one gun in my boat...
There was only one pod of fish in the 15 mile section of river we went down (well at least big pod of rollers).
The boy also saw a "30 pound" black king roll next to the boat. He knows what a 25 looks like so I pretty much believe him.

Bloody river is the same color as coffee with cream in it. Major debris fields floating all over so when the river clears be careful as it is very dangerous to be on the river in a boat at the present. The forecast is for a quick drop on the OP tribs. The Chehalis water from upstream is 4 days away so the river will not clear much

Also got two jacks out of the brush but did not see another fish.

Really slow down below too. One fish caught and a few swing and misses for abut an hour and then nothing. Water was still pretty clear though so that chocolate milk must be coming on outgoing tide this afternoon.

Trying to clear today but holy crap the wind was a bear. The debris is running back and forth also. Checked NOAA'S river bit and the Satsop went up 4 ft in 6 hours in that rain storm. Lovely! It will be better up river than down as it clears fast because the tides stop the tainted water from leaving very fast with these flows.

Oh yeah zero for one today. Bloody squaw fish even left!

Very dismal fishing above and below Fuller Bridge. Only fish caught have been jacks for the most part. Fish are just not settled. That's my report.

Not to lively but the silts is going back and forth with the tide. Best shot is 2 hrs before slack and 2 hours after then the silt gets you. Coho are moving and they will move right in front of the dirty water on the incoming and you can find them by watching the seals bit, of a zoo so to speak.

Upriver has been better but it helps a lot if you know the cycle the tides and silt is running for us.

Got my first today in the lower parts. Fishing was slim pickin, I hooked only 2 I know of down there. Gonna be slow and gotta watch that tide for water clearing times as Rivrguy said. Lots of fish movin but they can't see anything we throw at them.

River is cleaning up with a taint at Central Park on high tide. Fish are moving slowly and steadily but are a bit tight lipped. Better up above SM but sorta crowded I hear.

Another note so far this year I would say that many more Chinook than usual. A lot really and they scooted with the rain. Coho now they are not around in the numbers that the big predictions should show. Maybe running a bit late but it does not feel quite right as I am on the river nearly everyday.

Edit: Almost forgot the tribe went in today so I would say that above tide water ( SM ) or below the nets will be your best bets now. With the fish not holding and the nets it will be spotty.

Well netting has started so fishing is upper rivers for a couple weeks. Might get lucky way down low or get a survivor here and there when the set nets are not in but gonna be pretty dismal for a while.

Lots of tribal nets in the lower river when I passed thru.

Are the nets in all week until Saturday? I'm trying to decide where my best options are for Saturday. Not sure I want to bother fishing the Chehalis if they are netting all week. The last time I went to Friends Landing to fish (last year) there was absolutely no fish around because the nets had been in.
