Been out watching for fish twice in the last 4 days and not looking too good yet. 28th street was still with no fish moving that I saw in 2 hours or so and above tghe bridge didn't look much better but at leastI saw a couple jacks jump.
Anyone seen anything up higher or is it just gonna be a slow start because of warmer water and no rain?

Nope it is really quite above Cosy lately. Some Chinook come through in spurts with the tides but slowly moving and not holding at all. Not sure the water temp thing is the cause as the Kings are Summers and almost always are around at about this time. Just not there yet and if they are running late they net toast anyway. Sturgeon fishing you see one now and then around dusk but not all that many. Now Coho I think not but with so little showing one can not say. With things opening up we should know in short order but frankly with the netting schedule one should get out in front of the nets as much as possible if you want much success. Other than that wait and get above South Monte in the usual staging areas as that area and front bay will in all likelyhood be the best fishing. The reaches between will not do well with the nets schedule as they will never build up a big enough pool of fish to make it heat up. Run forecast may be for lots of fish but the tribal & commercial harvest regime means usual or worse than normal sports fishing in the river reaches near the Port to South Monte depending on the weather and rain. Join Francis in the bay or wait and join DW up river are about the best two options that will work. Sorry guys had to be honest!

Thinking the Hump may be the way to go after all but low LOW water will make it tough to find fish up high where I like to fish.
I did see a seal when going over the bridge 2 days ago but they are always in the river it seems.

Must be low to be seeing cutts in the water. Those little buggers are spooky in best of times. Intereresting that there is nothing on any sites about them netting this early, not that I found anyway.
Had thought about making a float down the river to see where the frish are but with it closed to all fishing I didn't want to chance someone thinking I was trying to get a head start.

No rod on a boat on a river, hmmm.
Should be some fish getting through though, only 4 days of netting in Sept shouldn't have hit too many of them.
Oh well, only one to know, either hit the Chehalis in the morning and throw spinners or hit the middle hump and try to find whatever has made it through. Should be stacked up somewhere.

i'll be out on the bay tomorrow afternoon. hopefully something wants to play out there.
seems like last year we got hammered with rain just before the opener and it pushed a lot of fish upriver past all the fishermen. that said, i don't think the humptulips is even an option until it's got some water moving through it, and even then there'll probably be more summer runs than coho in there.

Well saw very few Coho and got one but wrong kind. Herm got two on spoons, Art 4 out in the bay. Both cases fished / nothing and out of no where got em and then nothing around. Not much moving or holding just if you find a little bunch they seem to hit, sorta.

Sounds about right. Have to fish hard this time of year and be there at the right time.
Only heard of 4 jacks from the bridge to Lakeside this morning. Slow as expected. Did hear the boats are doing okay but hitting it spotty and all at once. Only saw 2 jacks and a Chinook role in about 20 minutes I made it down today.

You are refer'n to twitch'n spoons right? Or maybe jigs or spinners? Think if I do make it out and I am still twitch'n I may do some jig twitch'n so I can sit down and not have to cast as much.
