Thanks for that info! Looking at the netting schedule, I think it's better for me to stay in the South Sound.

Well this year was better than the last 2 & I fish the first 2 weeks of the season (during the week, too F'n crowded on the weekends)from Friends to S. Monte in the little green willie, here are the totals:

6) kings released
8) silvers in the boat & lost 7.

Well water was perfect, dead calm ( this morning ) and zip, did not see, hear or any other thing you might throw in. Fish have to be moving but I have seen the nets sweep before but it has been a long time since one that cleaned up like this last set.

These seals are something. I was told they stay well away from a boat ( safety zone thing ) well I had two shadow me at 50 ft until I moved into the flats and 3 ft of water today. These guys will snatch a fish bloody nearly in the boat! Bottom line is the middle river is poor fishing as nothing is staging or holding due to the rain, then you have nets, and if one is stupid enough to try and rest in a hole he has a seal on it's ass in minutes. Hate to say this but below the 101 bridge or above S Monte. I think the middle is toast for the year.

This morning I believe there was a sea lion in the water above the pulp mill. Either that or the largest brown seal I have seen. He managed to jerk a silver off a rope when I was bleeding it. Quite a jolt for a small boat.

It was actually a great day with four silvers, a chrome 30+ king and a smaller king to the net. Lots of wild life including the above, plus seals, bald eagles, and an osprey. The forecast had been for rain and wind but it was glass calm and partly sunny with no rain. What a day!

We saw a sea lion below the barge slip above Monte on Sunday. Bleeding fish on a rope is asking for it, gotta have a bleeder bucket!

Furbag gave FleaFlicker02 a workout but we won. ..looks damaged, but the only bite mark was on the head, otherwise in good condition.

I saw a huuuge seal at Fuller Bridge last week. Heard a few guys saying it was a sea lion, but it wasn't.

It has been a couple years since I have seen a sea lion in the Chehalis but I have seen them. Usualy don't stick around long because they rip up the nets and get their fill pretty fast.

My first "Nantucket sleigh ride." I hereby announce my retirement from the sport with a clean record of 1-0. Next time a furbag latches on, without saying anything, I'm passing "the fish" off to someone who hasn't caught one yet. whistle

Nice work on the camera, f4b.

Two in the boat / 2 released / and then the we will not talk about ones. If you find them it is wild, but you have to find em and work. Oh yeah this middle above MC below FL.

3 for 7 with two released. It is hunting time as you have to find them in a area they tend to hold in. Trolling is shot as the nets are moping up.

Nets go back in at noon so the few fish that got through in the past 18 hours will be hard to find. Fishing by the bridge has been pathetic with no fish moving and only 2 spinner chases in 2 days.
Get out there now or wait til after Sat. for any real fishing.

Hold over tides the next few days.
I've seen schools of fish slowly moving upsteam. The lead few are caught/struggling in the gillnet and the rest of the school back out.

Nothing! No hits or misses on the cut green label herring downsteam.

Chum came in numbers with the tide yesterday. They are not moving fast so South M maybe today tomorrow and the Coho are mixed right in with them.

Well this is a report from middle area....between Monty and Fuller Bridge....

7 boats n the area, knowledgeable fishermen.....1 Chinook released, 1 small silver lost(by me).......no other bites, that I was aware of. 4 bank fishermen, fishing the fast water....never saw any fish on the bank.

NOT MANY Showing ......... not even chums!!!!!!! Fished from 2.5 before low water and about 1.5 of incoming.....

Something needs to change to enable more opportunty for the sport fishing public........above the Marine area!!!!!!
