Can anyone answer this question?:

Which reel holds more 12# mono - a Revo STX or a Curado 201 E7?

revo.... 140/12
201 e7.. 135/12

as close as I can tell by doing a little math.
revo shows 12# in their specs. curado doesn't list 12#. the 201 e7 shows 10# and 14# in its specs. so I split the diff. between them and came up with the 135 yds.

looks like its sixes really.

I just picked up an Inshore, replaced the one non-carbon fiber washer (or is that just a spacer????), and applied some Cal's grease to the rest of the factory carbon fiber washers. Nice smooth reel. Monster drag once you replace the lone non-carbon washer. Why The Revo's have that is still a mystery to me.

I didn't look at the specs, but in holding the reels side-by-side, the Inshore seems to be pretty darn close in size to the Revo STX. I'm still a big fan of 7:1 reels, so I don't really know why one would get the Inshore over the STX or the other way around.

I was really hoping the Inshore was going to be larger than the STX but smaller than the Toro 50. Oh well. I still hate braid, but I guess I'll spool it up with 30lb PowerPro and see what it will do.

Keep us posted, will you? I bought my STX when you posted that gr8 sale a couple of years ago and have no complaints (love it). It is my number one go-to reel. I did buy one of those US reels (800 model...$100 or so) because I wanted to give their cool level wind a go. The reel works fine for what it is, but the "Made in China" stamp on the underside of the reel foot instantly turned me off. That, and the finish work on the level wind is not nearly as polished out as I would expect. They make a $250 model, but I wasn't going to pull the trigger for it. The drag isn't anything like the STX, either. Just goes to show you (er...me) that when you got no bitches with what you (I) have, just use it and shut up. smile

STX - 12/145 (hard to believe when I look at that dinky frame)
Inshore - 12/175

STX - Magnetic cast control (not a fan)
Inshore - Centrifugal cast control (me like)

The STX did puke out and fail on me the last time I was up North. Had to go back to the factory for repair. It has caught a ton of steelhead and I still really like it.

Damn, now I wish I was going North to "test" the Inshore!!!

I put a few days on my inshore last fall and wasn't super impressed. It has been sitting ever since. Thinking of putting it up for sale actually. Less than 10 days on the water, little bit of boat rash, but essentially brand new. Willing to sell for a reasonable price or trade for a lefty Viento in similar condition.

Yeah, but I tossed the parts list when it came back. Bad bearings, wingdings, bushings, or gap shanks. I think it was a few quarts low on headlight fuel as well. Stuff like that. laugh
