I guess it depends...there are BIG tuna that are almost impossible to land at all...but I've caught a pile of albacore, and while they pull hard, and make "one" long run...mostly they swim in a big circle and take a bit to get in.

Landing them is not really ever in question.

If you want to talk "pound for pound"...then I challenge you to find fish that will fight much harder than a bluegill...if they got to be 20 pounds you'd never land one.

Fish on...

Once upon a time I thought you won a bet regarding the time it took to land an albacore? Hopefully there is a trophy, or at least a nice plaque sitting next to your 2nd and 3rd place chum derby memorabilia to remember the occasion by.

Depends on the race of chum, ran into some on a Grays harbor stream a few years back & me & my 2 buds caught over 30 fish in a 2 hour stretch. They were the fightingist fish I have ever seen, running 10-20 lbs most would jump 4-5 times w/ strong runs ripping line off the cranked drags. There might have been a few deadbeats in the crowd but I can't remember them.

One fish I especially remember with fondness, after the hook-set he went @ it, greyhounded across the pool & literally cartwheeled for about 100 feet, I remember counting 7 distinct jumps. I was screaming HELL YEAH !! so loud it was echoing off the far bank.

In terms of the quality of the fight, give me a silver or chinook any day of the week. [/quote]

Really? A chinook I can see but a silver ....kinda like reeling in a plug cut herring wink
