These two XL fish were taken from Blue Lake (Grant County) by Roger L. of Naches. Notice the small square tails. The definite steelhead heritage in the head. Are they triploids? you tell me! what Photo Gallery

Hard to tell from the picture. They could be some of those broodstock fish WDFW planted in there before the opener.

I was at Blue lake apr. 30th to may 2nd and there was a kid there that caught a 9 lb 8 oz brown. eek
It was either friday afternoon or early sat. morn, but the family was cleaning fish when they spotted this trout swimming around the pipe from the cleaning station and ran and got his rod, threw some fish guts on the hook, tossed it out and fish on!
I got to check it out early saturday. It was a nice old fish but, I heard later in the weekend he was still showing it off and still had not cleaned it confused

Anyway it was a great weekend and a friend of mine's daughter caught at least 8 cutt's at Lake Lenor friday afternoon. I tried sunday but all they would do was follow my lure evil but hey the weather was changing and the wind had kicked up big time during the night but did see lots of fish

The heads look too big for triploids. Small heads that go into football shaped bodies is the best sign. Also they are very silver with just a few spots on them and small scales. The meat should be pretty orange also.

The game department said they planted triploids in Tye Lake. I caught several 14 inchers this year but they were very purple in color, the stripe and over a lot of the body. Very strange for triploids. I've caught them before out of the same lake with the usual characteristics confused

Perhaps they were a different crossbreed that they planted.
