I need some new waders pretty bad but can't afford more then about $150 after tax.

I HATE hodgemam waders, as I have had nothing but horrible luck on every pair I've ever owned.
I wear the higher end model prolines right now and have had a few pairs of them with great luck. But I want to try a new brand.

I really Wang to get a pair of waist highs again. I'm not a chest high wader fan at all. and seen that frogg toggs makes a pair for about $100.

Anyone have any experience with them? Or any other waders they make?

No experience with Frogg Toggs waders, but their rain gear seems decent.

The Allen Company also makes some super affordable "breathable" waders. They come into Costco stores on a seasonal basis and typically sell for about $80. Pretty darn good deal for that. I have recommended them to a couple of folks needing a cheap wader solution for infrequent use. I didn't see a waist high/pants type model on their site, but I didn't look hard.

Frogg Toggs are great if you like buying new waders every 3 months. I've seen a lot of them develop leaks in a short amount of time. Cabelas has a good bang for the buck for a guy on a budget.

I didn't either. I was hearing some rave reviews of their sonic welded waders so I checked out their website and saw the waist high ones. I'm thinking about a pair of those too.

Frogg Toggs have been junk for me. Bought a pair for myself last year, had them leak in both legs in a month. Hoped it was a fluke, bought the wife a pair, and both legs went out on the 2nd day of a 14 day BC trip. Ran into town and bought G3's and G4's and will never look back...

I know 3 guys with the sonic welded redingtons and they love them. All 3 are diehard sims guys aswell. So with their reviews alone I think ill save a little longer and get the waist highs.

I wore my simms out in about 10 trips in one year. Sent them to simms and they sent the back without doing anything to them. They said they needed to be cleaned.

I hear that a lot with sims.

I use to go through a pair of waders every couple months. I always sent them in to have leaks fixed.

Hodgeman, prolines, wright n mcgill, columbia always just sent brandnew waders. I never had a single issue with any of their warranty programs. And my waders are usually pink as can be from egg goo

If a garment is soiled badly, most manufactures require that it has to be cleaned before repair. That responsibility falls on the owner. When I was in the biz, we returned items back to their owners because they weren't clean. It's really unfair to the operator who does the repair to have to deal with a soiled item, they don't want to touch some one else's dirt.

You finally got a job?

I took a guy fishing once that had some brand new Frog Togg raingear. He took them out of the package and ripped them from belly button to bung hole just putting them on.

You will get every type of response on any subject here, so you need to decide what you want to spend and go for it.
As for Frogg Toggs, not sure what the guys on this board do with them to have them leak in the first five minutes or rip opening up the package, but we have been using them up in Alaska at our lodge for 6 years and they have been great, yes they leak once in a great while and need repairs, but so did my Simms. Alaska is hard on stuff and Frogg Toggs have worked as good as any. We have started stocking them for client that have problems with theirs and don't want to spend a life savings replacing them.
This next spring I will put on my pair that has been used for 4 years now and no leaks or problems with lot's of brush pounding. Don't like the boots as much, maybe the new version will be better.

What do they mean by clean? I wash mine off after every trip and they are and will remained stained with egg goo.

+1 on the Allen breathables. Got a pair last year and have had no leaks thus far. Though its always good to have some aquaseal on hand just in case. My neoprenes are hodgemans and are about 25% aquaseal.

I have no experience with Allen waders. But my buddy bought a pair last silver season and they leaked after 2 trips.

The legs rubbing together when he walked created a huge wear mark on both legs right on the seam About 12" long.

In fact my prolines (visually look the same as the allens) are leaking the exact same way.....but they are almost 2 years old now

how a pair of breathable fits you goes a long way towards the lastablilty of the waders. The best pair in the world will not last very long if they don,t fit right and you rub a hole in them after a days walking on the river.

Have owned two pairs of the reddindington sonic pros..last pair my dog chewed the suspenders and the zipper pretty bad. Took them to the service center and only asked for the service center I could send them to to get fixed... They replaced them on the spot for me.... I will buy them again!!!!!!!
