Pardon of violent criminals sets up Miss. legal battle.
On his last days in office, Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour confused many of his constituents when, without explanation, he granted pardons or early releases to more than 200 convicts. NBC's Mark Potter reports. http://usnews.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2012/0...ss-legal-battleThere are a-holes in every party.

So what? 90% of the convicts were going to be paroled anyway. 13 others were released because they cost the state too much in medical bills.
Sounds fairly reasonable to me.
What's the Teabagger alternative? Keep them in jail for the rest of their lives and make taxpayers continue paying for them? Most of the guys are probably in jail for pot-related charges anyway. Did you read the article? " Pardon of violent criminals sets up Miss. legal battle" "On his last day as Mississippi governor, Barbour, a Republican, surprised friends and foes by granting more than 200 pardons, clemency or early release for people convicted of crimes including murder, rape and armed robbery. His actions included 21 people convicted of murder, according to NBC News"

My first response when reading this was that Barber is showing signs of early dementia. I believe he started showing those signs shortly after birth.

How the heck did I get to be a tea bagger? Never been to a function, think a number of those folks are loons, and I have never aligned myself with any party, at any time.

The great majority of those had already served their time and been released before the pardons came down...but a few that were released are head scratchers.
Fish on...

The weird thing to me is that they were pardoned, not just given commuted sentences. So in the eyes of the law, their crimes never occurred.
Seems it would have been more reasonable to simply commute the sentence, so those they come in contact with (employers, etc.) in the future are aware of what they're capable of.
