I'm sure there's plenty of teeth-gnashing and renting of fabrics going on in the hallowed halls of right wing dingbats.

I can understand that many people don't agree with gay rights for whatever reason. What I don't understand is how so many people can have so much anger and hatred for it that they will expend significant energy and money to fight it. That takes a hella' lot of anger and hate.

The anger and hate is fomented by right wing politicians and their chubby little minions (eg., Karl Rove) so that they can get the dingbats and douchebags to the polls to vote against those darn gay people who are ruining the entire earth with all their wanting equal rights and stuff...and while you're there, please vote for our dingbat and douchebag right wing candidates! Thank you!

I'll submit this for discussion:

If gays getting married really does threaten the sanctity of your marriage, I'd say your marriage is pretty much totally fukked already.

If that isn't self-evident, nothing is.

One need only point to many people, right and left, who have devalued the sanctity of straight marriage.

Same goes with abortion... I used to live down the road from a Planned Parenthood and frequently drove by it a few times a week. Almost every day there were a handful of people (sometimes double digit #'s) out front waving pro life/anti abortion posters, and most of them were middle/older aged women past menopause..

I always wondered how abortion was such a big deal to them that they spent countless hours each week holding a sign up in front of a Planned Parenthood.... Like anyone is going to change their stance on the matter cause some crusty old hag is holding a sign expressing their personal opinion on abortions....

Religion (and politics) makes people do some crazy things and fight for some stupid reasons... Don't like abortions? Don't get one. Don't like gay marriage? Then don't get one.... Why people care so much about what other people do just boggles me....

They've been taught to believe that it's murder but mostly they have too much time on their hands. Some of the "Christian" sects are the worst cults in the world and 100% opposed to freedom and democracy yet they don't realize it.

There isn't enough repubs in Cal to pass prop 8 without alot of votes from the "other" side.

Why does that matter? Are right and wrong to be judged on public opinion? Using that criterion slavery was very right in Mississippi in 1850.

The difference is, of course, that no one will ever make anyone get an abortion, so if you don't like abortions...or gay marriages, or contraception, or whatever...don't have one.

Outlaw gay marriage, being gay, having abortions, whatever...they'll find something else they need to hate...it's like breathing for them.

Someone is making people who have moral objections to performing or assisting abortions do just that. The Catholic Church is pretty disappointed in Obama for what they feel is a violation of their constitutionally guaranteed freedom of religion.

wink

Which has...exactly nothing to do with this conversation.

Kinda funny at that, I mean all the brou ha ha and commentary on an issue that is not supposed to be an issue.
Knock organized religion of any stripe. Knock RWWJs and LWWjs and
whomever else might have a negative opinion and it does no good.
Just raises the belligerency level.
Keerist, this is America. Feel free to unionize whomever, and if in
Enumclaw even the horses are game.
Interesting that WE THE PEOPLE in California voted for Prop 8 and
it's unconstitutional per, let me guess, the 9th court of apeals.

Sprained an ankle badly once and was lame for a bit.
I don't fathom the to to do phrase's meaning.
Sorry you took my last post as some kind of insult to those of you
that have to live with some sort of sexual anomaly. I know you
are a screwball KK but I didn't know you were gender confusion
afflicted.
You breathe too much of that peat dust and it hampers what little
brain you got to work with.

"Personally, I think you should be able to kill your own kids. Before they are born, after they are born, what's the difference?"

Had we known I bet we all would have passed the hat to raise a payoff to your parents.

The government shouldn't dictate who can marry, the churches should.

How many mice do you have in your pocket? I'm glad you have their support 'cause thinking on your own isn't one of your strong suits.

I thought the left was supposed to be tolerant of those who have different beliefs. But, if you're against gay marriage, you're a f'n religious zealot. Seems just a bit hypocritical. Very consistent, but hypocritical.

I suspect the "left"(whatever that is) would be tolerant of those who have different beliefs if those people weren't trying to enforce those beliefs on others.

Pretty sure you just made my point. Thanks! 2 sides are fighting over a single word. Gays already have the same protection as hetrosexuals so it really only comes down to a single word. Who's trying to force what?

The government shouldn't be sanctioning marriage. Marriage should be an issue dealt with by the church.
