I have started to gather quite a bit of fishing footage from random trips, and I have been telling myself that if I ever put it together I would use the first song in that video. 'Runnin' by Pharcyde.

Reds are cool fish. I got into a couple (nothing near as big as the bulls in that video) while fishing Clousers with my brother-in-law around Galveston. As you saw, they can be tricky to coax into biting. Looks like a great application for a version of the fly pattern that has been modified with a trailing hook....

The Gulf redfish and speckled trout fisheries are a prime example of what can be accomplished by grassroots advocacy groups. Just 30 years ago, those fisheries were all but dead due to over-exploitation by commercial interests. Now, the sporties are the only user group with a claim to them, and the fish populations have rebounded dramatically. A reason to take heart, even if our circumstances up here are a good deal more complicated.

Next week I'm going to tick off one off the top of my bucket list...Tarpon in the Caribbean , can't wait!
