Does anybody on the forum have a favotie lure that they use much more often than others, or like to fall back on?

Small Mouth Bass
4" rootbeer grub 1/16 wt. head

For me it's always been (well, since I was 6) a classic red/white stripe spoon for trout.

I don't really have a favorite brand that makes this lure, and they've all got a slightly different bend to them. That shot you get up your arm when a big fish hits is at it's greatest for me when I'm using this lure.

Trout: HotShot size 70 or a Flatfish size F4. Any color works well. Haven't found one that really sticks out better then others...

Tip them with a piece of worm and troll them and your set...With my experience, it outfishes any spoon or spinner for trout and I'm not kidding.
Beats out any other top quality lure like a Wedding Ring, Super Duper, Dick Nite, Needlefish, Blue Fox Vibrax, Rooster Tail, Panther Martin, Mepps, Little Cleo, or any other spinner or spoon you can think of.

Downside: They aren't weighted, so you can't cast them. For casting lures its all about the Kastmaster for me...No preference on color....

Beyond any doubt, it's a size F5 or F7 Perch Scale Flatfish for rainbows. For kokanee, it's always red Wedding Ring with a treble hook and white shoe peg corn on each barb. And don't forget the snubber.
When fly fishing for Westslope Cutts, it's an Elk Hair Caddis or a Red Humpy in sizes 10-16.

To add onto Lotech's Flatfish: I've almost exclusively used Flatfish for the past 2 years. I seem to do well on anything really. Coachdog, Bright Pink, Bright Orange, etc. Natural or bright colors work great...

for bass: black on black 1/4oz jig. If they are way up high a weightless jerk bait

For trout my best producer is pink wedding ring with silver blade tipped with cured corn, or salad shrimp behind a 50/50 4/0 dodger. Of of downriggers of course!!!!

Kid Kokanee: What sort of fish you talking about? You got a few people giving their best techniques for a few different species....

No species in particular. I was just curious as to if people had a favorite lure. To me, my red/white spoon is like my little buddy

Also, I just moved to eastern Washington a few months ago, but still plan to fish west of the mountains too. So I'm happy to see good lure recommendations for species like smallmouth that I have no idea how to catch, and new ideas for things I already know how to catch like kokanee. I'll definitely try some (if not all) of these lures out when March roles around! Look for more vague posts from me through-out the winter, probably more east of the mountain related than this one... Hey, if I don't have the time, money, or cold tolerance to go fishing right now, at least I can post about it.

That answer works for me...I like it...

A RAPALA has caught more fish in this world than all the lures you guys have mentioned combined.

B-Run: We're not talking about what the lure that's caught the most fish in the world...

I fish for just about everything that swims.
The 3 inch curlytail grub has been my go to bait for about 25 years now.Big Panfish like the Perch and Crappie will hit it as well as the Largemouth and the Smallmouth.We get good numbers of Walleyes and big Rainbows and Browns as well.If you are targeting Salmon and Steelhead you may want to go bigger, say to a five inch.
That Dare Devil spoon that you like has been around for as long as I can reamember,its a good bait that has caught a lot of fish.
Pick up a few bags of curlytails and some 1/16th and 1/8th oz jigheads and hit the Yakama for Smallmouth.Chartruce has been a good color.

I think a simple spinner is one of the most versatile lures out there.

I would say for planted trout frogger flatfish or red/white gypsy king. A big old juicy nightcrawler on single hook will take it's fair share also.

Look for a old red and white Ranger Bass boat with a guy and a gal in it.That will be my wife and I.We are on the water every weekend.

It all depends on the time of year,day & intended prey.I just make sure I have with me Roostertails,Dick Nites/Canadian Wonder,Kastmaster,red/white Daredevil,Flatfish,Hotshots and Rapalas

Rapalas tipped with worm, If that fails I usually fall back on wedding rings. With lakes I switch lures and colors constantly until I find out what they're hitting on. If all else fails, I try the simple bobber & worm before I quit.

I never, ever use powerbait. That's for the boat ramp urchins.:D
