To any other tall skinny guys out there... any luck finding properly fitting waders? I'm 6' 4', 175 lbs, size 13 feet. I prefer stocking-foot breathable, but would consider neoprene or boot foot if it's the only way to get a better fit. I'll use them mainly for river fishing for steelhead/salmon/trout.

The main problem I keep running into is this: to get the right size foot, I have to get XL waders or larger, which fit my feet but are huge everywhere else. Tall sizes don't seem to help this problem.

I tried on a few Cabelas brand waders, and they are worse than what I've had in the past. Tried on a pair of Simms and they were a little better. Previously, I've worn pretty cheap breathable waders, and maybe just didn't notice that the foot was a little tight.

Any brands (reasonably priced) or style recommendations would be helpful. I'd like the keep safety in mind as well, and falling in with oversized waders seems like a bad deal, even with a belt.

Thanks.

I feel ya on the sizing issue. I have the same dimensions as you and have always had to make a compromise. I've been able to get by on the Redington CPX Medium Longs but my feet don't thank me for it. They do seem to stretch out a bit after some use though.

Simms probably has the most variable sizes...like Medium/Tall/Large, stuff like that, for tall skinny guys with big feet. Most the rest just have s, m, l, xl, and maybe some king sizes mixed in there.

Fish on...

Yer gonna hafta open the wallet for fitment.
Garden variety brands stick to the common sizes.
Simms I think has the widest ranging size chart.
Check Dan Bailey and Orvis, too.
If that doesn't work they (Simms) do custom, but you need a really fat wallet for that.

Well, I don't know what your budget is, but my Simms G4 waders in a Large Long (boot size 11-13) are the most comfortable pair of waders I have worn. I am 6'3", 195 lbs and have size 13 feet. They have enough room to layer underneath but I have never felt as though I was swimming in them. I will definitely be looking at getting another pair when I finally wear these out.

Good feedback. I appreciate it.

Simms G4 are sized really well, but it's too bad their basic waders don't offer the same sizing options. I'm trying not to get my wallet pried open too far...

I'll check out Redigton's, Dan Bailey's, and Orvis as well.

Any feedback on boot foot waders as it relates to overall sizing?

I have some Dan Bailey's Barebones I believe and they fit me very well.
I am 6"3" 185lbs and shoe size 14 (river boot)
I also have the Dan Bailey felt sole boots and they are very nice.

I'm 6'5", 190 and size 13 feet. Right now, I'm wearing XXL Orvis waders, and so far have been very happy with them. They're made with the seems on the back of the legs, which has made a huge difference in the amount of wear. Since these larger sizes are usually baggier on me, I blew through some of their older models after just a couple seasons from the inside seams always rubbing, but their customer service and return policy has always been good, so I gave them another shot.

The shoulder straps are maxed out as far as they go, and of course they feel a little baggy at times, but it is what it is, and for the most part, they're very comfortable. There's always going to be some compromise, but I'm going on my third season of hard use, and so far no complaints.

A couple of seasons is quite good depending on how hard you are on them and how often they are used.
I typically wont get more than 2-3 seasons out of a good pair of waders.
All the warranty's are for manufacture defects on all waders not customer abuse. I am hard on my waders tho and do a lot of hiking to different spots on the river.

Mine are size LL. I think....... I bulk up with the extra clothing and jackets and other such items so they are not too baggy.
Here is a link for a better idea.

I wear the LL's in Dan Bailey's, too...I'm 6'3", about 225, with 12 or 13 feet, for reference...

Fish on...

I'm really liking my redington sonic pros....though I'm only wearing a large. They do make large longs. I'm 6' 215lb with a broad chest and a large fits perfect. They are about the nicest fitting waders I've even put on. And I bought a pair of Simms 3 days before trying on redington sonic pros....guess which waders got taken back that very day.

Looking at the redington size chart they don't list a longer inseam length between the large and large longs. But I can tell you from trying them on that they are longer by about 1 1/2" and the foot was bigger by a size or 2.

I'm 6'7" and well not as skinny as you. I got a pair of Dan Baileys and had the suspenders lengthened by a shoe repair guy so they were long enough. Otherwise I was sporting the male camel toe...

Seriously? That takes tall/slim to new heights.

I'm barely pushing 5'6" and I'm packin' only 5-6 pounds less than you.

If I had size 13 feet, we'd probably weigh the same.

If you had size 13 shoe it would be even more awkward at 5'6". haha it might be awesome tho.
