Here it is folks..it's time once again for Hanks' Keys To The Game.

1. It's January. It's Chicago. It's BRRRRFUKKEN COLD up there. Game time temp will be in the low 20s with possible snow. The Fawks have got to stay warm in order to work their magic again. How can they do it? By reading some old posts from here on how steelie fisherpeople stay warm, that's how. Lots of A #1 advice right here in PP-land. thumbs Don't let Da Bears pull off any of that"heaters are out of fuel" chicanery either. If the Fawks can't have working heaters, Da Bears can't either. That's the law.

2. Ever hear about that Hester guy? The best advice would be to not punt to him. Punt it out of bounds; punt it to the opposite side of the field. If he does get his hands on it, tackle him before he gets up a head of steam and starts those fancy moves of his. Otherwise he'll ruin your day.

3. Marshy needs to have another one of those world-class runs he ripped off against the Faints, but that's gonna be tough to do. When Julius Peppers was asked if Da Bears defense would allow that, his answer was "No". The Fawks O-Line will have to do some serious blocking on Sunday. Not just for Marshy and 4-Set...for Matthew as well. He's an old guy, a little gimpy right now, and Peppers would love to hang a few sack-a-rooneys on him and send him to the showers.

Last time up there in Chi-Town the Fawks put up a decent running game. That's gonna be a little tougher with Briggs back in the lineup. That Urlacher critter might be getting a little long in the tooth but he's a savvy old fart and he doesn't miss many tackles. Once again..good solid blocking is key.

3. You liked that last game when the Fawks put Cutler in the sod half-a-dozen times didn't ya? It was pretty sweet all right. Think the Fawks can do that again? Probably not and I'll tell ya why. First off, Cutler was coming back from a concussion in that game and he was a tad mushy-brained; a little slow on the draw. Not the best time to call a game that had 47 pass plays..the slow-developing pass plays Martz likes to draw up. Forte only ran the ball 8 times too. Since then Da Bears have had a more balanced offense. Forte is averaging 4.6 YPC...5.8 in the last 4 games. Sunday is not the day for the Fawks to forget everything they've learned about tackling.

Da Bears O-Line has been doing a better job of protecting Cutler too. Forget about the stats from the game against the Pack where they got to Cutler 5 times or so. That's the Pack...not the Fawks. To get to Cutler, Clemons and Brock will need to come off the edge. Da Bears aren't too good at picking up blitzes, so a few here and there won't hurt.

4. Hasselsux is one of the highest rated QB's in the vertical game...passes of 11 yds or more. Da Bears secondary has only given up 9 pass plays of 30 yds or more all season. Not bad. So what's a mother to do? I'll tell you what. Slant passes between the LB's and secondary to Stokley is the answer. If the Fawks can count on Williams to leave his pass-droppin' hands on the plane, more the better.

5. The Fawks need to try that mixture of trickery and strategery again. That "Carlson-falls-down-at-the-line-and-then-skips-into-the-endzone-untouched" play was a masterstroke. Try it again in case Da Bears were sleeping instead of watching game films. Better yet, try a play where all the Fawks receivers fall down. It can't hurt.

6. It's been pointed out by that football sage Todd that scoring more points than Da Bears is a crucial aspect of winning. On that point I'd have to agree. The Fawks should go all out and try their hardest to put more points on the board than Da Bears.

So that's that. Only 6 this time but 6 that will bring the Fawks one step closer to their Super Bowl dream.

GO FAWKS!!!!

I forgot to mention that last week I sent Hank a text after the Hawks won, congratulating for somehow getting Petey to read his Keys to the Game, and against all odds...he texted back...which he never does.

Was that your first text ever, Hank? I was shooting some 8 ball when you texted back, just about dropped my cue smile

Fish on...

Todd

P.S. Not bad points...don't forget our pass rushers on the outside have something like 22 or 23 sacks between 'em this year...4 or 5 more would look good on Cutler.

The text I sent wasn't the first. As the Fawks Coordinator of Strategery I am in constant contact with the coaching staff, as well as my home boys Marshy and 4-Set.In fact, I just finished advising Petey on the in-flight movies to Chi-Town. The boys will be watching Rudy for a little inspiration and Debbie Does Chicago for some relief.

Can't go with Hawks 23 Bears 20 as that was the score last time we beat them,so I'll change my score prediction:

HAWK'S 24
Bears 16

Good luck,
SZ

I like a few of our match-ups and a few I don't.

I like our D-Ends against the Chicago O-line. I have a feeling that Chicago will go to a screen pass to offset this. I do not like our LBs (do you hear me Curry?) against the screen, but will say the past two weeks, they have played way better.

I don't like our run game against the Chicago LBs. They have a lot of experience, and will fill the holes before the RBs get through them. I think any running yards are going to be hard to get.

I like our receivers against Chicago DBs, but I dont' give them much of an edge. If they double BMW, then I like Stokely in the slot all day.

For Chicago it comes down to QB play. If Cutler hits his hot routes under pressure, and sets up the screen plays correctly. I don't like the Hawks chances.

For Seattle, it comes down to field position and coaching. I think if Seattle can convert 35% of their third down, and keep Hester away from the ball on their punts, this game can stay close throughout.

First team to 21 points wins IMO.

I was lamenting about Curry on the screens and out routes last weekend.

That guy has a ton of physical talent and ZERO football instincts.

Curry played a great second half..held contain and made 6 tackles. Most of the time he plays lost and is good for jumping offsides at least once per game. He has one foot in the BUST door.

One foot in the bust door and the other one draggin' the line. He's still playing for a couple of reasons; a six-Year, $60 Million dollar contract with $34 million guaranteed is one of those. The other is the Fawks don't have someone better to replace him...yet.

Curry looks and plays like a 3-4 OLB. He looks like Adalius Thomas to me. I mean that in the nicest possible manner.

Have I not given you Fawksfans Hank's Keys To The Game?

Am I not the Fawks Coordinator of Strategery?

Have I not said I HOPE the Fawks win?

As for the Niners being on the bench, they'll be pretty well rested when they take it to the Fawks next time out...don't ya think?

I was just reading some chit over on the Niner Nation site and thought this was pretty interesting. What better place to let you in on the rumor than Fawks News: Timely News For Fawksfans?

As you may have heard, Carson Palmer wants out of the Bengals organization and he'd like to be traded. The Bengals would send him to a NFC team so they won't have to face him. His name came up in the Niner Nation because his wife is from the Bay Area and he'd think about that.

The exciting thing for you Fawksfans is he'd love to be reunited with Petey (Heisman Trophy USC) and become one of the Fawks. I figured Petey would let the Bengals have Curry, take Palmer and try to alter his 11.5 mil contract for 2011. Sounds like a sweet deal to me.. wink
