I'd say it's good...not that it makes Romney look any better, since a good portion of his appeal was based on "at least he's not Rick Santorum", and it might make him look a bit worse...it's good because he'll officially have the "R" now, and all the partisans will line up.

I've never really had a problem with "hope" as an idea.

I voted for Obama because he wasn't Bush, and McCain promised another term of Bushism. As it turns out, I'm disappointed how much like Bush the Obama administration has been. A real conspiracy theorist might conclude that any administration is controlled by a power that is neither or both the Republicans and Democrats. I'd vote for Obama again if his campaign slogan were nothing more than, "Still not Bush." While too much like Bush for my libertarian tastes, he's enough not like Bush compared to any GOP offering to likely get my vote.
