was wondering what type of game i should first start hunting for, and what type of gun i shoulgd get. i was planning on starting out for deer with a 30.06, and/or duck with a 12 guage pump shotgun. any other suggestions on what type of game or guns i should use? thanks in advance!

An 06' will be perfect for deer or elk if you want to hunt them later. Deer are really fun to hunt,and are all over the state. It's cool also because were one of the few states with all the deer species. If you want to hunt a different terrain,a couple hrs behind the wheel and your there.

A 12ga. pump is also a great choice for a hunting shotgun. Most are pretty cheap,and you won't feel bad when it gets hammered in the field. A pump is also the action with the least amount of maintanance needed. Sometimes,I don't clean mine the entire season. But it's almost impossible to make it jam.

IMHO the 06 is the best all around center fire cartridge available.

Don't over look a .270 or 7mm

can't go wrong with a rem.870 pump 12g

Hunt whatever game people will take you out for. Ducks, deer, rabbits, grouse, whatever it is, go if you have a chance to hunt with someone experienced. The '06 and 12 gage will cover you for everything in WA.
