I saw this on a log near the Snoqualmie River this AM. Sorry about the crappy cellphone photo. It's about 5 inches across and maybe two inches thick. It is soft - almost like butter. Any of you part time mycologist have any ideas what it is?

It is a dangerous variety....you can tell by the barbed wire.

sure its not a fungus like a species of "tooth fungus", or are you 100 percent sure it is a mushroom?

Not sure of anything. Less so as I get older.
