Not fishing, but something that has kept me more interested than fishing lately. This up and coming sport of sprint boat racing is extremely addictive.

Great video clip

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Yeah, it's nuts... 0-80mph in 2.8 sec. and 5-7 G's in the corners.

Only watching for now. Would love to get into it but at $40-60,000 to get started would be an expensive hobby.

The next race is next weekend Aug 11th over in Port Angeles. Then there is another race there on Sept 8th which is the nationals and the Speed Channel will be there doing a show. Come check it out...maybe we could meet up and grab a beer in the beer garden. Here is the link to their website.

thats not new Side, its been around for a while... 12+ years ago they used to call them "River Rats".... cool pictures, nice work...

there is a small 14-16 ft boat with a Berk pump on it near my brothers that i am looking at, its got a 350, but i could change that real quick wink... the boat wouldnt be used for fishing either... dont know what make it is, but its one of the original style boats they used to do that with, now, the boats are way nicer, and lighter....

No it's not new, but it has only been going on here since 2006 and the PNW is the only place they race right now in the US. It started in New Zealand. These are different than river rats which race on rivers. These boats are races in man-made ditches and most boats are 12' to 13.5' and run methanol injected motors that run 900-1,500 H.P. The pumps on these things are pumping up to 750 gallons of water per second, which they claim they can empty an olympic size pool in less than 15 minutes.
