I say different strokes for different folks.

I am on my AHE certificate for 9yrs now and have had the "luck" to draw the Margaret (AHE), the Toutle (archery )and the Little Naches (Peaches) (archery), 3 draws 3 bulls

So a little book work, a test ,some conservation work and some shooting.

Sounds like a good deal to me !

I don't understand all the fuss about the AHE program....I'm all for it. Years of hunting experience is only one variable that makes someone a better, safer or more ethical hunter.

I work 50+ hours a week, manage to play with the wife and kids, working on a masters program and still get time to go outside, and I have the AHE deal. 5 elk in 7 years hunting the AHE program. The state makes the rules, all we do is play by them.

Shame on the whiners for hunting harder, not smarter.

I quit for the year on elk, too much time needed for school, but I hunt the same areas as FisherDan. Got a few cool pics on a 12 hour hunt I did a few weeks ago when the wife said "get out of the house, you're botherin' me".

It sounds like it's a consensus, try the AHE program, you may find it's well worth it.

Here is a project I got involved in two years ago, because of AHE. I get to do another one this June and July.
