Even with boat, Chehalis above Monty has been "cold and hot"....water is clean, except for all the moss xhit, but not a lot of fish. Even jacks have been "hit and miss". Last Sunday was a zoo......boats and bankies, seemed to be everywhere.

If running from Fuller Bridge or even up from Monty.....if low water....watch out......many "pumps" have been filled with gravel.

Be safe!!!!!!!!

I'll second that... got on a fresh school a few corners down from where I last talked to you today drifterWa..... and after the pep talk on jigs (pink worm) I put them to good use. Didn't see you on my way upriver to the takeout so guessing you did't hang around long.

Well I am no danger to the Salmon surviving! Lord what a day and if they do Dumb & Dumber II I should try out.

That said hold over Coho in the morning 4 for five boats. But in the middle reach from early morning to incoming tide throw a herring on behind a flasher take off toward Cosy and below and you will catch Coho and catch Coho and hell it was hard to watch. Now us really good fishers using custom spinners and ect kiss you azz good bye.

Bottom line on incoming tide Coho were moving not fast but with the tide. Some showing and more but after we figured out the soft bite / spitin beggars and moved around you could see them. Little back and back down bit. So Tribe goes in tomorrow at noon, It will be ugly but you up river guys in what has been a fish the desert get ready they moved and hopefully enough to get above the nets.

Sleep, coffee, cigar, ............ better.

Simply put they are moving in numbers both Chinook & Coho. Chinook show little but are getting caught in numbers. Coho do not show much but on the afternoon incoming you could watch the movement, just a little rise here there but right off the current line, constant, and steady. Now how far up above Cosy the Coho went with the tide is the question.

Sunday 9/23/2012 12:00 p.m., QIN gill netting begins, will continue until Tuesday 9/25/2012 12:00 p.m.

Might want to take that into consideration.....either fish before the nets...Johns River, 28th Street(run West) OR ABOVE THE POWER LINES, just below the Wynoochee River (try for any fish that make it thur the gillnetting and all the set nets. Will be a tough 3 days for the in river sport fishermen.

I noticed this year that the Chehalis is under selective gear rule, wouldn't that make bait illegal?

Fished today from Friends to the Nooch, saw 3 fish caught (on spinners), had 2 takedowns (1 on herring & 1 spinner) that went unanswered on the hook set & pulled out @ 2PM. Very discouraging day with the nets in & all.

There was a boat that pulled up on the rocks during the outgoing tide & was completly out of the water in 20 min. so be aware of the tides or you'll be high & dry for a while!!! I offered assistance but he was too far out of the water by the time I showed up.

Was in the little green Willie predator with Yamaha motors & 3 guys. Say Hey if ya see me out there, but be prepared to speak up cause I'm deaf in one ear & can't hear out the other!!!! LOL

Will be down @ the 28th St area in the AM Tuesday.

Jim Sr.

Stopped by the Monte ramp this afternoon on my way home to do a freshwater rinse on the outboard motors. All the boats I saw coming in had fish, so it looks like it was fairly productive. I had a good day downriver in the harbor and didn't see any gillnetters today. I saw some fish caught, but not as many as Sunday.

Fished up A Friends today, was a great day for a boat ride, eleased an 18# King on a spinner & not a sniff for the herring.

We fished out of Hoquiam Tuesday with success & figured with the tribal & cowboy nets out @ noon the next few tides would let some fish flow upriver but that didnot happen, at all!!!

Will be back to catch at Hoquiam in the AM.

Finally got the skunk off yesterday, fishing S. Monte on the outgoing. It was a long time coming, but it was the typical fall scenario in the tidal Chehalis, as out of nowhere, after an extended dry spell, I bumped into a tide-fresh pod of biters. First fish was a nice buck, but I apparently forgot how to fight salmon during my long dry spell, and I let him shake me off. Two casts later, a smaller hatchery hen nailed my spinner and went ballistic. Despite an awesome aerial display, my hook held this time.

Much to my surprise, she actually tasted really good. Most agree that the hens in the Chehalis system taste like cardboard after just a couple days in the river, so I figure she was new on the last tide, which should mean things are falling into place for a good weekend. We shall see....

Fish are moving but not much showing. Above Cosy is & can get a bit shy on biters but the numbers are building or so it seems. Nets are back in the 1st so pick your poison. Join the jungle in the bay or below the Port or shoot craps. Anyway you look at it this is the last spell before the three weeks of nets. Schedule is up at the front of the thread.

Here is the long range weather be it not the best but it shows the trend. NOAH shows no rain 10 days out.

Can some of you guys tell me what to watch out for at the Monte boat launch as far as tides are concerned? Have launched at Friends, but never Monte. Heard one has to be careful with ramps ending and falling off.

Any help would be appreciated.
