Put in at Westport, Tue. about noon. 4 for 4. 2 kings, 2 silvers. Kings were 15 and 25. Silvers were look alike 10lb bucks. Looking forward to the rest of my vacation. Good start so far. Not seeing a huge number of fish being caught.

Though not unheard of. I caught one on the lower wynoochee 6-7 years ago in mid-August. Had to do a double-take a few times to believe what I was seeing. Twas' the real deal.

Sunday 7 - 11:30.......no fish in my boat.....lot's of other boats, same way but did see 2 fish caught, so they would say the fishing was good. It seemed that once the tide turned, all the fish stopped showing. My boat was placed where I could look both ways, up and down river, nothing, zero....packed it in and went home..........tomorrow is another day!!!!

2 of us.....twitched jigs, spinners(with hoochies and prawns), and plugs.....

Saw DWA a ways below me today but didn't make it to him.

Got a decent hen on a jig first thing and then nothing. Off the water by 10:30.

Lots of fish, lots of people, and lots of long faces.

On another note, I tried jig swimming with a 7' rod for the first time. I liked it. Seems like I felt the fish sooner than I normally would have.

Tried S. Monte again yesterday. Must have been 50 trailers parked there. I had to "invent" a parking space. Same sad song for me and most others, although I did catch a nice jack. Fish checker said she had only checked five adults. Should have talked to her before launching; could have watched the Seahawks instead.

I must say that, despite the crappy fishing, I have really enjoyed doing short, lazy floats in this beautiful weather. Not the usual fall experience. Still, I'm hoping for a good rain this weekend so folks can get up in the woods to hunt and the fish can start moving in earnest.

Good to hear this. I plan on picking up a new short stick for twitching jigs very soon.
