30lb power pro, i use it for damn near all my fishing besides trout in lakes and small rivers/streams. I prefer maxima crystal ivory for all my fishing expect ling cod though. But if no crystal, ill always have a reel with me spooled of Izor line. Normally 8lb.

Late lunch today, but I don't seem to have an issue with a Sage 290, the Daiwa Viento and 30lb. hi-viz PowerPro and big fish when it comes to flow-at fishing.

70% of the time float fishing is spent with a 10 foot baitcaster. The other 30% is done with a 10"6 spinning rod setup. I can cast lighter weight stuff and the added length helps with better drag free drifts. 30 pound power pro regardless. Hell, ive pretty much switched to braid for everything...
Seems like most of you guys are running on the light side when it comes to bobber fishing for nookies. I run 65lb powerpro with a 30 or 40lb mono leader and alot of guys run 80lb braid as their mainline. I don't like re rigging a bobber setup when my mainline breaks. But then our chinook run a little bigger down here

That was a slab Parker!
How long ago was that?

In the legend of King Arthur, the Fisher King was a renowned angler whose errant ways caused him to be struck dumb in the presence of the sacred chalice. I am no great fisherman, and a steelhead is not the covenant of Christ, but with each of these fish I am rendered speechless.
For salmon I use 50# SpiderWire Stealth on a Curado 201. I use 10'6" rods with a rating of 10-17# and 10-20#. 20# maxima for leader. Switched from 30# braid to 50# a couple years back.
For Steelhead float fishing jigs. I use 15# braid with spinning reel and an 11'6" rod rated 2-10lb.
I fish an 11'6" 4-10 ist or 11'6" 8-12 xst Rainshadows and a curado 201e7....Never any heavier than 10lb power pro or sufix 832 (love this stuff btw) and 10 or 8lb leaders. My spinning setup is an 11'6" 8-12 xst Rainshadow, which is my centerpin rod, but I stick the spinning reel on it when I'm not having a good day with the pinner. Or my actual spinning rod is a 10'6" 4-8 rogue which fishes a little heavier, more like a 6-10 rated rod
That's my everything setup. Including kings in any water conditions. I've never felt the need to fish heavier. There's a few times throughout the season I get my butt kicked hard by a king....but I see guys fishing 4x heavier having harder times fighting fish than me.
I don't necessarily dislike fishing heavier than these setups. I just grew up fishing noodle rods a lot, so I've just learned to love light line fishing

Must be where you fish and what you fish for. My 12# rated 10.5' gets leveled by steelhead every year and can't put a dent in anything over 20# worth catching. I def am fishing heavier and heavier as I encounter the fish that matter. It only took me 15 years of serious salmon and steelhead fishing to get to the point where I can find the big boys often enough to warrant it.....
That last line was 100% sarcasm.

I don't fish the big fish rivers to much, but the satsop and nooch are my new home rivers so I'm sure I'll hook bigger fish more often. I have caught my fair share of steelhead flirting with 20lbs. Never over yet
I just fish with what I love to use. What feels the most comfortable to me. When and if I hook that fish of a lifetime I know I have the skill to land it....my gear may or may not hold up, usually I does just fine 80% of the time. The longer rods make up for quite a bit. Knowing how to fight fish makes up for even more than the lack of heavy gear.

I hear you on the longer rods. I lost a great fish the other day on a stiff 8' and now realize that probably was the reason I lost it. I may tend to horse fish more than some but I do it to get them back quick if needed or to free up space for other fishermen.

Baitcaster with 50lb powerpro main/12lb mono leader. Less backlash in my opinion during those 6 beer casts and is good for destroying driftboat fishermens line when they get too close. (winky face)
