Here's a pic of an original 30# lead-body Animal Anchor for reference only.
These get mentioned from time to time and if you haven't seen one, here it is.
It was called a Ramsey Anchor and later the name was changed to Animal Anchor. They just stick.
The new ones are all steel.
Buzz Ramsey and Willie Illingworh were buds and I think they cooked up the design. My boat has an anchor nest for this anchor on the stern.
Very tidy.

looks nice. I missed my favorite coho hole the other day because my 35lb pyramid wouldn't hold me even with a lot of rope out. small cobble in higher flows equals no stick where I needed it most. frown

Sounds like a tough spot to anchor.
I use a baby Columbia-type rocking chair anchor in big water.
Holds pretty damn good. They can be made folding....this is a rigid copy of the 12" EZ Marine anchor.
Weighs about twenty pounds and has the common breakaway chain rigging.
You wouldn't need the float, puller, etc.

I use a 50lb three sided pyramid, it sticks in the fast water. I have a mold that can go to 55lbs if ya would ike to use it.....Can go lower if ya use less lead...
