I had to do it alone because everyone else was busy, there was a nice old guy who was plunking there and I had him be my photographer once I remembered to have someone take pics and my saftey officer... I told him if anything looked bad or I yelled for help to get me help and call 911....
Believe me I was very cautious and thought things through and had saftey gear in place because I new I was the only manbearpig there....

also, that boat is tough ! I take back all the bad things I have said about glass boats !

I would own one now

Peace

It all boils down to this - I'm right, everyone else is wrong, and anyone who disputes this is clearly a dumbfuck.

Send the manufaturer pics and that you'd have one after seeing how it stod up to the punishment of being sunk, rolling around in the river and being hauled out. Who know's what might come of it. Maybe you'd end up in an ad which would probably be a first for a manbearpig. I'll be your agent.

Just be careful any any other attempts to Salvage. if the boat comes up and it is damaged, And they deem the damage is caused by you. They can claim neglegent salvage and you would be on the hook for damages. I guess this is why Salvage companies are Lic and Bonded. also if you do it again, and it is sunken and abandoned for 7 days, file a salvage lien, then they have to pay your salvage bill. it's in the RCW's. Or nex time get them to sign a release of Liability for any damages that may happen with the authorized salvage. Really just cover your azz. and good job on bringing it up in great shape, The other boat also lost both Oars. Congrats

Day after boat went down, I watched as another group tried to get the boat out.....they actual had a rope on the boat........WDFW LE was there at the time....they tried to pull from the gravel bar side, moved the boat enough that a box of plugs floated close to the boat ramp, they were retrieved. They pulled some more......broke the rope......they were still trying to get a rope on it.....but I left......if any damage, it could have happened then...

Saw the remains of a green canoe wrapped around a bunch of [Bleeeeep!] just above the last corner before crossover bridge today. It wasn't there two days ago. It was bent all to hell and looked like it got rear ended by a huge wynoochee sled while on anchor. Not much to salvage, but if the manbearpig is up to the challenge it may pay slightly less at the local tweeker metal yard that a glass boat recovery.

If they don't get that rootwad out of the way at the diversion dam there is going to be another big problem as the flow continues to drop.

I seem to remember the salvage thing came up several years ago, and I think the end consensus was there are no salvage rights in fresh water.

You salvage someone’s boat without their permission and you are in danger of being cited for theft, the people have no obligation to pay you for your efforts and even worse could sue you for any damage that might have been caused during the salvage attempt.

Sounds like SuperFly did the right thing in getting the owner’s permission and working out some sort of agreement on payment beforehand. Probably not a bad idea to get something in writing, with a disclaimer absolving you from liability from any damage claims next time.

I also know that at least on the Deschutes in Oregon, if you sink you're boat you are responsible for getting it out. Either you get it organized or the BLM will and then charge you for it.

MBP gets a driftboat unstuck and you want to kill him?

That's cold.

Boss man, You can salvage in navigatable water, Which the Nooch is, but after 7 days (Abandoned) if you would like to be paid, you need to file for a salvage lien. But your are correct that any damaged deemed caused by you during the salvage can be put back on you as Negligent Salvage. This is why companies have Bonds and Insurance... Or you can have the owners sign a release of Liablity.... It's in the States RCW's. Only a municipality can retain ownership. A Salvage company or individual in any waters fresh or salt cannot, Unless after 30 days, and the owners are unknown, and it is abandoned or Sunk you can file paper work to become the owner. But hoops have to be jumped thru. but with a Salvage lien they have to pay the salvage bill....

I just got off of the pone with the guys that own the boat . Yesterday they agreed to pay me 650.00 for getting it out !

Today they are telling me they want to screw me and pay 200.00 take it or leave it ! I told them they agreed to 650.00 and thats it and they said , well you know what they said F- U .......I said really after you agreed to 650.00

I think I should post there names and let you guys be the judge in this case, 4 1/2 hours in the water and almost 2 hours on land. There boat would hae been long gone if it wasn't for me, besides I had to offers on it yesterday which far exceeded the amount of my bill !

Unbelievable..........they need to pony up and follow thru with there word !

Peace

If he gave it to you he would just have to immediately salvage it out of whichever body of water you took it to first.

Lol, he could just wait at the launch. Joe, get fish Prince to give them a call, they'll come around.
