Hefe, I have not gotten into nymphing, but the guides I have watched nymphing up there use fairly simple ties. Look pretty much like a yarnie in different colors and sizes depending on river conditions. Maybe a couple small legs, some flash etc. Its more about getting something in front of them they can see and presentation than the actual offering. Many gear guides are simply side drifting yarn stuck in a bait loop and catching fish.

Thanks for the info metaladdiction but that's not what I was asking. I had asked what individuals favorites are.

Oh, I apologize El Hefe. I suppose if I were ever to decide to nymph my favorite patterns would be intruders or bunny leeches. wink

Again metaladdiction, thanks for the input but I was asking about flies to be nymphed. Intruders and bunny leeches fish better on the swing.

Limited experience with nymphing here. Used egg sucking leech and beads. Next time I do it I'll likely use beads cuz I already have 'em and won't have to tie anything.

Yarnies. Or beads. If you're gonna slum it, go all the way. No sense wasting time tying true nymphs for winter runs that are at least as likely to eat yarn. Summer steel? Stonefly and October caddis!

Summer steelhead love the prince nymph. Size 10, with a gold bead head and a pair of wiggle leg for the tail. Or a tiny cerise glo bug.

I'll add to the vote for goo bugs and beads once the water temps drop if you're going to nymph. I know a buddy who is successful with 14mm pink pearl beads, but I am a fan of orange, and 8-10mm is my favorite.

After you catch a fish, you get to lift it while keeping it the water. That makes you the lifter and that is why it is call the lifter. True story...... wink

I thought it was they catch fish, thus lifting your spirits wink

Glo bugs are made with yarn
Lifters have a body of Estaz Glissen Gloss

Egg-ish patterns, yes.
