I picked this up at a garage sale for I believe a good price for $15. It is in good working order and wondered if it was heavy enough for pinks and silvers in the open water.

Not real familar with that reel, but it should work fine. Guys have used Pflueger Medialists for years in the salt.
Most of the fish you're likely to encounter will be sub 8 lbs. Give it a good wash down after hitting the salt and you should be good to go.
