Check out Africa......seems it is not nearly as important what kind of food we eat, as long as we have food.

Not sure that these life expectancy charts are relevant to the level of pollutants being put out in our food today. They certainly will be over time, as cancer and other health problems continue to rise.

Well, it's not like those rivers over there were clean in any of the recent past. The people have fished and eaten their catch over there for many decades that I know of. I was there in '67 and sanitation was non-existant, and that condition was certainly not new. Couple that with the fact that everyone smokes over there......and they still out-live us. Interesting? Maybe not.

As I think about this, I may have eaten that sh!t !

I married a Texas hillbilly (by mistake) and when we go down there to visit, there are the omipresent hushpuppies, fried ocra and fried catfish ! (and other weird sh!t)

Wondering now if that catfish was from from far off land ? !
The last batch was from a fast food joint....probability = high !

sick

Damn, I hope it was local stuff.
Prolly wouldn't be much better.... sick

Just say no to catfish, squirrel and 'possum !

The scariest thing to me was the population growth.

It said in the last 35 years, the population went from 35 million to 85 million. Environmental issues like this are only going to get worse...

Over population will be what does us in.

I tried some farmed catfish in 1984 in Georgia. It was terrible! I tried some farmed Atlantic salmon, it was tasty. Normally I am easy to please in the food department.

I saw a show on TV year or so ago. I think it was on Natl Geo, maybe PBS. They were discussing farm fish, specifically catfish farms. The farms raised catfish and Talapia together. Why? Because the Talapia were quite happy and gained weight from eating catfish poop! I've never eaten a farmed fish of any kind.
