Does anyone fish a spoon with their center pin float set-up? Not talking on a regular basis, however do some of you float & jig guys bring a few spoons along and fish them with a center pin and say 13 ft rod? If so, it is pretty easy to do?

Hey man. This guy has a couple of videos about drifting spoons. He is a BC guy and I have posted his videos a couple of times, but these might be helpful to you. I know I'm going to give drifting small spoons a try this year.

This is the link to the gear talk portion which may answer a few questions you have about center pin gear.

I fish them all the time. Also, a center pin reel is pretty sweet for retrieving #4 or bigger spinners. Preferably lighter weight spinners like blue fox spinners.

Another thing Barkoff, you're very focused on the center pin aspect of your fishing. Don't work so much about that. You should realize that you can use just about any type of rod and reel to fish a multitude of styles and techniques. There are people that tuna fish with Barbie rods. There are guys who troll for salmon using fly rods and reels. There are people who accidentally catch lings and halibut with salmon trolling gear. Etc, etc.

The examples are endless! If your interested in in float fishing, study that and not so much what you're using in terms of rod and reel. Will certain rod and reel combos make things easier? Sure! But don't get so focused on it!

Relax man! It's just fishing!

Just looking to expand my horizons. I'm intrigued by the things I have never tried.

On a related note, I bought a Popeal Pocket Fisherman off of eBay last year, I'm looking to take a chinook off the boat with it this year wink

Try fishing "lil shaver" spoons or dick nites under a float. I know I will be this summer...should have my pin reel this week hopefully.
