Heading up for a trip June 16-22. I will be staying at a do-it-yourself lodge on the Wrangell Narrows, just south of Petersburg.

It has been 3 years since my last visit, so I am not completely clueless to the area. I am just looking for any additional tips anyone may have.

I have always focused my salmon efforts around the terminal area in the Narrows. Standard mooching gear and a cut plug herring have been effective, but not lights out by any means. Anyone have any other areas I should explore and maybe an idea on a more effective technique for salmon around Petersburg?

I have straight hammered down on Halibut up there, mostly fishing the southern areas of the Narrows, like the Little and Big Duncan canals, Level Island, Kah Sheets Bay, and the occasional run over to the northern part of Zarembo Island. Standard stuff here too for bait. Anyone able to offer up any other spots and/or bait ideas?

We usually take one day and head north of Petersburg and score on some rockfish- anyone have any spots south of town? I have heard rumors that some ling cod do exist in the area, but have not pursued that or really heard of where.

Finally, I have also heard that shrimp can be had just outside the southern entrance of the Wrangell Narrows in the Sumner Strait- anyone able to offer up some guidance?

I will appreciate any information I can get. Thanks all.
