What kind of knot are you using? Knots vary greatly in strength. I find no need to superglue my mono knots. I have some different knots and how to tie them located on http://www.steelheader.net/knots/knots.htm

I only use spit on my mono knots. If you can tie good knots, thats all you need.

i heard a tip that may sound odd. For your mainline to swivel use river water, not spit,, your spit contains digestive enzymes that break down the mono. I dont really care about the leader because they break of quick anyway, but if you are tying up a rig to go fishing the next morning try water instead of spit. You never know if that first cast of the morning is going to connect with a big ole beauty!!!

spit. I would think if you were fishing then it would wash off on the first cast. river water should work to but as for spit hurting the line, well every body is entitled to their opinion but I would think the sun would hurt the line more than spit for a few min. but who knows. I think the most important thing to worry about is tying the knot right.
