Nice fish, stonefish. Were all those colors in one fly? If so, it sounds like you've been looking closely at the fish you're imitating! Nice work.

I mixed the gray, purple and chartreuse to try and imitate the back of a herring. I sometimes add a bit pink and blue as well.
UV Krystal Flash and Krinkle Mirror Flash are left a bit longer then the stinger hook to create a flashtail.

I used a cream colored bucktail for the belly. The color reminds me of the polar bear bucktails my dad and I used to troll for coho in the 60's.

Herring was what came to mind. Like the extended "flash tail." Apparently, pretty effective recipe!
