Did my now traditional waterfowl opener to Johns River. I started going there because there were ducks. For the last 5 or so the opener is a goose show, with no ducks even seen. But, I managed to pull down a Cackler. Seemed to be a few less birds than in the past but still dumb enough for me to get one. More effort too, as I saw 10 other guys in the fields.

Sweet! I went out today and got 5 locals. 3 Widgeon, 1 Gadwall, and a Woody.

We shot 21 for three guys on the opener and finished up with 14 for two of us on sunday.
Always good to get back out in the blind.
Almost all mallards but for a teal and a woodduck.
Also managed to call in a lone cackler. seems to be a few more little geese on the east side these days.

Thanks NOFISH for thinking of her. We had a great opener but it wasnt the same without her. Never could bring myself to write up a post on her.
Maybe I'll try to do that soon.
