I'm going to build a mold to make a anchor for my pontoon. I want around 15+17lbs 3 side pyramid.
I'm curious how much angle to tapper the sides? What is better for digging into the river bottom.

I have a 10lb float tube anchor now which gets recommended a lot for 9ft pontoons...it sucks btw. Its cone shaped and works only in walking pace water under 5ft deep. And mostly drags
My buddy has a 10lb pyramid that is slightly better if at all.
We usually have to double up with another 5+lbs of anchor to actually stay in position

Be careful what you wish for.
Pontoons of that size are not stable anchored in the types of flows you describe.

I have a mold that is a three sided prymid, it goes to fifty pounds, just weigh out your lead and pour it in. I come thru mattock all the time, if you want to borrow it, let me know

Bankbum.......sounds like Matt has you covered. I'd jump all over that...might work out for you to pour the anchor, then try it out....could add more lead if need be.

You'd be very surprised how false that myth is. I wouldn't be looking for a heavy anchor if I didn't have lots of experience with such weight. I just looking to upgrade from a cheesy anchor to a nice pyramid for efficiency.

Fishing the Queets Sunday morning, I will bring mold with, and call you on the way home. The route back from Queets I will shoot up through Satsop and can meet you at the store at the four corners in Matlock. Then head back to Shelton and home. Let me know if that would be a good meeting spot around 6pmish
